You can ride crickets? What shit is this, I hope in hafen you can't ride bunnies or ants.

It's one of April's Fool's jokes.
Still, it's no big deal. We're in a semi-fantasy setting with Lovecraft monsters yet to come. No big deal.
And it's not a regular cricket, by the way. It's a giant freaking one.

The ones who don't think so, hmm, should be the ones who stop posting in this thread. Pretty funny how you guys react like it's your territory while this thread is indeed not in your interest. May I suggest you stop caring about it and leave space for people who really want a discussion?
The game that you guys so proudly said to be invited to try is being developed by someone else. I find it hard to believe that your experience with it, happened years ago, have anything to do with the state of the game right now. Even the guys who played 9 months ago find it hard to catch up. So tell me, will your early access be sufficent to judge Salem today?
From July 2014 to April 2015, the game almost transformed completely, here's one big extensive list of change: http://forum.salemthegame.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13240
I wouldn't play Salem if I believe in the 90 percents.

I have nothing against Salem. Whoever wants to give it a try, can give it a try. I'm just telling you you are advertising the game at a wrong forum. And for me, it does not matter in what state the game is now. It looks shit as it did when I tried it.

I understand your concern. The thing is, even the second sticky in this exact subforum has the world "Salem/Haven" on it. I think it is legit to advertise here. Plus, I didn't start the thread. Claeyt did.
To each his own, let just leave this one thread here for the people that might interest in the awesome game I am here to represent. One tiny thread wouldn't hurt ;)
Also, we are seeing an influx of players and some of them claimed they came from HnH. I am forever grateful for that. Luckily it seems like the newbies' reception is better than that of yours. Some changes must have been working out nicely.

That's a bit of a dated thread about keyloggers and hacking that occurred in both games. Of all of the things you could bring up as unifying factors of the two games, that's probably the weakest one.

:) - oh they'll be back, just killing time until the release of Haven2.

I had previously thought about coming back and taking a look but in all honesty, lol, this thread actually put me off.

I've also spoken to some who have tried it out again recently and whilst there is quite a bit of new content, basic game play doesn't seem to have improved that much and they got bored pretty quickly, I think out of the two games Haven has more going for it with regard to long term play and the new version will bring with it extra content, I don't think we need to worry too much about people trying out Salem. :)

Ah, yes indeed, no one can truly quit a game as great as HnH.
Hm, this thread does have much negativity and saltiness. That could defer some of the oldie. Still, as stated, our goal is to present it to new players, not oldie and quitted people.
I could say that whether that game is boring or not is a matter of taste: I have seen first posts claiming they are in love after one or two hours. Much likely the people who try it recently either miss the "new method" and stick to the old_fashion aka "boring" way of playing, or are not into sandbox. Or they would prefer something simpler, perhaps.

But it's solid isn't it. It has "Salem" in its name so no one can say that we're not connected. We can go on in length on how the two games are alike/different, sure. But that would be too much for an obvious statement.

Bananas and taxi cabs are both yellow, so surely you can see how closely related they are.

Are you one of the devs btw? I can't quite tell but using the word "us" makes it sound that way and sentences like the following feel like advertising:
Still, as stated, our goal is to present it to new players, not oldie and quitted people.

Commercial advertising of other games is not something I think we want on these forums, so in case you belong to the development team of Salem (and you won't stop posting in a way that feels a lot like advertising a product) I'd go ahead and lock this thread.
