Villages

Postby mattym14 » Tue Aug 03, 2010 5:57 pm

People really need to stop joining villages just so they can be lazy and get spoon fed everything. I've talking to several of my friends who play this and they told me that most of the new players that joined their villages do nothing and expect everything. That's really not what this game is about. I just want to know what everyone else thinks of this or if they've experienced this same problem in their village. :?

Had the same problem. Then again I recruited in /v/ so I guess it's my fault for expecting more of them.

villages should adopt a little something called the Rebel Philosophy, from the Ashes series of books. Set a few simple laws that say do not commit a crime, work hard, and respect others. Then ask everyone who wants to join if they will follow said rules. And tell them the punishments: commit a crime, you die, no exceptions. you don't work or don't respect others, you get exiled and NO ONE from the village will help you, ever. then you can get some real, working villages with villagers who cooperate with each other, and who no one will want to fuck with IF you accept the strong military theme of such a philosophy.

If they are not helping boot em.
Added points if you type out a paragraph of reasons why that person is getting booted or sucks in village or area chat and booting them before they can respond.

This is similar to what villages pretty much adopt regularly I'd say, successful villages anyway.

Are you useful as a villager? Alright, cool, keep helping out, having fun, and everyone profits.

Are you a crappy villager? Bye, you're not worth the time.

This more or less happens to newer settlements as well.
