Hunting Tips

Postby mattym14 » Sun Aug 22, 2010 11:18 am

I'm fairly new to this game so I'm still learning some of the "more complicated" ropes, if you will. I'm curious to know a couple of things about hunting Foxes or Boars:
Mm Level: (Mine is currently 31)
Sling Quality: (7 .__. )
Any other skills:
Traps:
Etc:

If someone could give me some detailed information on hunting Foxes and Boars regarding that list above, that would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Get a better sling, get more Marksmanship...

Foxes: Trap them, easy shit
Boars: Try and trap them, if you can't set a trap and lead them into it.

When trapping boars use the crawl speed, this makes it alot less likely for them to attack you.To trap them get loads of branchs and build sign posts around them(place fire add one stick) till they cant move. Then pelt them till they die. They take the hide and dry it in which then make the hide into hide straps (It says you need a cow hide but you can use any) hide straps will be much easier to get higher Q in, in which then you can make a higher Q sling.

Approximately what level of Marksmen should I start hunting Foxes with? I tried once at about 22 and it dodged all my rocks, even if I charged it almost all the way.

I have seen people kill boars with level 10. I have never used marksman so not sure how that works, sorry.

Ok, well I'm no pro. But heres my method for killing foxes atleast.

Havn't really attempted boars.

If you have access to water I would suggest building a boat I have 10MM and a q68 sling it takes a bit to kill the fox but its still easy never the less.
I travel a long the river until I find a fox I start the sling charge and as soon as he runs I hit him (unless the bar fills up before then)
If it doesn't hit he'll attack you and run into the coast. (if you do hit him sometimes he'll run)
If he does run, hit the peace button get off the boat, chase him, and wait for him to stop moving.
Once he stops moving shoot him charge the meter again till he stops moving. It usually takes 2 hits for me to kill a fox.
Note: if the second hit on land makes him attack you just run back to the boat and move a little into the water then hit him again.

Thats been working very well for me so far, hope it does for you also.

Best advice would be to get your MM to 50+, a decent quality sling 30+, and all you need to do is make sign posts around the animal(s) then you know what to do. Also, I recommend starting off with walling your self around a bolder and shoot at some rams. Image

Wait, what?
You cant hope to kill a herd of moufs with 10 mm within a day, what the fuck are you talking about.

As for advice, just get some LP by working on something other than hunting, do I know, farming or something. Eat some per if you can (carrots for example) and make a good Q sling.
You can most certainly kill stuff with 10 MM but I wouldnt recommend starting before 25 MM. A Q20+ sling is a good start.

As for boxing in animals with building signs, practice is the key word.

You learn to write. You didnt say, IF you have that, THEN go do that. You said 'Also, I recommend starting off', implying thats another good thing to do now.
And I'm not your buddy if you dont even think before posting :)
