a whispered hello

Postby Lusewing » Tue Aug 24, 2010 1:35 am

Um...Hi, very new and I thought I would pop my head up to say hello while the server is down. Iv been looking for this sort of a place for a long time now and thankfully one of my long link swinging brought me here. Lots to learn and catch up with so I am currently scouring the forums and Wiki to learn all I can. In the course of about an hour and a half I have thus far:

Been killed by a boar
Built and lit loads of fires someone had put up to trap an animal thinking it was a tutorial area made to show you how to level up (Yes I am that much of a Newbi)
Carried around a big log
Made a stone axe (which I was very proud of)
Got lost on the skill page
Followed a rabbit
Ran from another boar (see i can learn)
Made a basket
Dug up lots of soil as I tried to make a field (what I was going to plant even if I could make a field I don't know)

and generally made almost every newbi mistake there is...This is going to be a long learning experience.

Good luck.

And you need to plow a field to plant stuff in it. Keep building those fires!

Welcome :D

Ya the very first time I played I made my character, entered the world (when we all still started in the same area) and said hi to the first person I seen. Luckely enough that person was kind enough to let me live with them as I learned the game.

I would suggest staying the forest building yourself a little fort, and once you get the hang of things: join a village.

should also hop on IRC, sometimes wiki can't solve everything :)

Enjoy your stay

And please don't clearcut the trees to gain LP. You can gain LP fishing or digging dirt even.

Don't worry I read the do's and don't after I started realising that this world was BIG in more then just scope but also in complexity. I had actually gone looking for a farming sim but this is WAY better. I am up for the challenge to learn how to play and thanks everyone for the warm hello's. I plan on building a nice little hermit patch that will hopefully help other people that stumble upon it. Sure I might get screwed over but I can always home karma flows my way more often then not.

Haha yes I read about the swimming and I don't think I will be trying that out. As for a village I think I will avoid joining one for now just because I am so new to the game and it's macanics, I would just end up being a drag on the other players resources so until I have something to offer I will stumble around, hit my head and learn from my mistakes...unless someone feel up to running a school for new players such as myself

/agree
its nice having access to a large variety of supplies/resources. and if you don't like village life you can always leave and strike out on your own :)

Also one of the best methods to learn the game.
