A small request...

Postby fructose » Mon Jul 27, 2009 4:10 am

Since my stealing style is non-targeted (I just wander the land picking up random junk and eating food), I never know who summons me when I log off. I don't really care to spend time getting ranging, so in the future if you're beating me up, would you kindly leave a note or a runestone stating who you are and what your grievance is. So far I've stolen random junk of only moderate value, but I would find it interesting to know who gets so upset about teeth, capes, meat, or cake. And also, if you can leave the hearthfire so any collection of runestones stays in one locale, that'd be cool. I just wind up picking up a dream on the way out everytime, anyways.

I'd say so many thieves have been annoying people with their constant thefts that no one actually cares anymore about the value of what was stolen. Most people would just take the scent and run after you, without even bothering to check what was stolen, with the full knowledge that the item would never be retrieved anyways. People now kill any and all thieves hoping that if enough are killed, they'll get bored or learn a lesson or something and leave them alone.

The lesson being "no thieves allowed to play ever"? Because that's the whole reason people make alt thieves and why Jorb keeps wanting to make incentives to make it worthwhile to have a main thief character.

Well, one of these days it'll be my tombstone, and I'd enjoy a memorial to the stupidity that my dude was an accessory to. "Here lies Fructose. His love of food and random materials was too strong for this world."

Personally, I might be so kind as to let a thief go if he took goods of low value, or even a small amount of high value goods. The only times my settlement has really been pissed off (and the reason that Rugs needed so many alts) were when an army of weaklings got on while we were asleep and completely sacked our city. A strategic, surgical theft that only took a few valuable goods and left only a few scents would be a breath of fresh air.

And low value thefts are not worthy of tracking in my point of view.

To be honest I think most of us would be ok with no thieves ever... I sure would.

A close second is only thieves that devote a lot of time to it, have small impact on their target, and take on some ACTUAL risk

Well good thing your opinion means shit cause that would be horrible. Until wars and stuff get implemented, there would be literally 0 conflict and once they do get implemented, which I am sure will be a very long time, there will still be long boring periods in between. Without thieves, the whole point of having full loot style stuff becomes worthless. Maybe you want to play World of Warcraft, but from what I have read of the devs over the past week, that's surely not what they intended to do.

Haven and Hearth - 'black skills' = Eating Things Online

And it's not even a good eating simulator

Poison, War is a state of mind, just like peace. It's already 'implemented'.

I didn't find the game boring when I first joined (May 31st, says the profile) and apart from ShockedFrog, there was very little griefing. Hell, ShockedFrog only griefed one settlement.

This isn't to say I do not like the PvP elements. They definitely add to the game; but no, they are not necessary for the game to be fun.

Oh, right: There will be economic conflict once mines are limited and resources broadened and localized.
i guess they never miss huh
