I HATE BOARS

This stupid boar kept rushing into my camp and knocking me out. After it did that, it would just stand over my body until I could get up, just so it could kill me again. I just started getting used to the combat system and actually got a pretty decent character going. He built a large house (took FOREVER) and just got the Yeomanry skill, so I was pretty excited to get my own property and was saving up to make a village. While I was building a loom, this boar comes out of nowhere and repeatedly murders me over and over again. I couldn't get up without it dropping me, again. Finally, it began to walk away, giving me just enough time to run to a river and try to swim. This is my first time swimming by the way, so I assumed IT SHOULDN'T BE THAT HARD. Boy was I wrong. I toggle the swimming thing and I jump into the water. Next thing I know I drown. While I was busy throwing my fists into the air screaming "WHY GOD?!?! WHYYYYYY!?!?!?" a screen popped up saying "Hey, don't swim unless you have a bunch of CON". I like how it told me that after I drowned. In fact, I liked it so much, I drop kicked my monitor and threw it out the window. But I digress. The reason for this post is. Why so many boars? Why do they hate me? Why do I need a bajillion con just to swim? I've been swimming since I was 6 years old.

Build a fence. In fact build that before you build a house. They will even protect you from bears if you stay behind the fence and don't piss them off (i.e. throw rocks at them).

But of course there are boars! They are the staple! If you're not being mauled by boars you aren't playing Haven & Hearth.

Also, that was a good way to die actually. Your hearthling went out trashing and clawing for survival.

I hope you weren't discouraged to not begin again; your heartling's descendants will be stronger over time and you'll have more experience if you can handle it.

You're right, that was an awesome way to die. I'm still gonna play the crap out of this game. And the more I look back on it, that was pretty funny. Thanks for the advice. Time to build some fences.

Yeah.. Swimming isn't such a good idea. I actually refuse to buy it even though you have to turn it on to use it. If you think boars are bad, try being attacked by a bear. They're faster than you are. But yeah, As Anna said, build a small fence around your home. And also, if you hunt boars, build a small square of sign posts around yourself, so they can't get to you.

Better: Build a small square of sign posts around the boar, that way it cant flee.

Try personal claiming all the area inside the fence, animals don't spawn on personal claim

First you can hearthfire teleport before the Boar re-aggros to escape.
Second you should have stayed in the undeep water the boar can't get you there you don't have to swim for that.
