I'm bored and would really enjoy gaming in between working and socialising, but I think my university has a restrictive firewall. The only game that I have that works is Counterstrike : Source, and that's apparently because it was in high demand a while back and they configured the firewall to allow it specifically, along with e.g. WoW.
If I try to log in to H&H, it simply times out at the login screen and says in red text "Connection timed out: connect".
I've downloaded an application called Your-freedom and OpenVPN, and configured it so that I connect through this. This allows me to log in, but after I click "Create new character.." or "Log in where you last logged out", my HUD loads fine but then I have a black screen saying "Loading.." and then after a short while I get automatically logged out.
I've also tried another game I love called Heroes of Newerth, it's an RTS, but it simply displays no servers for me to join (both normally and when using the Your-Freedom/OpenVPN apps).
At home, H&H worked fine, here it doesn't though, therefore it's a connectivity issue.
So can anyone help? I'd really appreciate it, I'd be willing to subscribe around $20/month (or ~£15, I'm from the UK) for any programs.
