Barrenburg thieves

Postby Mikkanen » Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:52 pm

As the topic suggests, our small settlement of Innsmouth was the target of a theft some hours ago. The place was absolutely riddled with scents - I packed some food and followed them, and they let to a place called Barrenburg, quite a ways from my place. The thief in question was not online, but his hearthfire was inside the village walls. Asked around a bit, and the other villagers seemed like good enough folk.

Anyways, my place is by no means a very wealthy nor a flashy one, so the silk, wrought and cast iron and other things that were taken were of quite some value to us, and the people of Innsmouth are not happy.

I'm not sure if Barrenburg caters to thieves - if my things could be returned, I'd let the matter slide. There are other solutions, if that fails.

The ball is, as they say, in your court. Looking forward to hearing from someone who runs things there.

I'm replying by PM.

[Edit - on second thought, this should be public.]

If one of our people robbed you, we'll deal with him or her, and attempt to repay what was stolen. I would like to see evidence, however.

Kobnach, chieftain of Barrenburg.

Why don't you have walls? It's my understanding that walls and claims are very important.

We do, the problem is that we don't have a gate, due to some rather unfortunate building planning. I'm going to have to take some of the old wall that was built ages ago down to build the damned thing, first.

I know this is the result of that, but, well - theft is still theft. And before someone else goes "Ooo, no gate, going to rob the place asap" - there is little worth robbing left, so save yourself the trouble.

Thanks for the swift reply. The only evidence I have is the fact that my settlement is completely void of the silk, iron etc. that was there when I last left, and the plentiful scents in there. If you'd like to visit and see the scents yourself, I've marked Innsmouth here: http://www.maplib.net/map.php?id=5732#

If the thief came from Barrenburg they will not be protected by us.

As far as I know none of our village members are thieves. If one our our members stole from your claim you are welcome to his or her head, with our assistance.

Thank you; I am unsure wether or not the thief is an actual member of Barrenburg, but his hearthfire was inside your walls. I circled them, and the scent pointed in from all sides. He still remains offline.

I also thought of something; if the thief happens to be a village member, you could keep all the things he took from here, if you'd give me some help in return. The shoddily built wall is, partly, the reason of the incident - if you have anyone capable of knocking palisades down with reasonable speed, taking the entrance portion of Innsmouth's village wall down would be more than enough. I could then rebuild it properly with a gate.

If the thief is an actual member of Barrenburg we do not want to keep him! Either way we probably can't restore your goods. Thieves tend to store the booty in alt vaults.

As for knocking down your wall, I think we could do that and would be more than willing to help out. I'm only a 40 in strength but with a couple of pots of tea and a borrowed bear cape I think I could do it.

I think that with the altpocalypse change, you need a strength around 80 to dent a palisade. The good news is that if you stop repairing them, they seems to rot on their own fast enough ;-(

Treatise on Walls.
I'd be happy to help tear down the aforementioned walls if:
1. You can find me while I'm online.
2. Provide me with tea/food, tearing down walls is tiring/hungry work.

You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.
