if you cant find a village, you're probably a victim of hermitobia, which means you're in an abandoned wilderness and nobody will find you unless you do some exploring
i know how you feel

The best way to find people is to swim along the river.
It's a great way to reach civilization quickly.
Lol why u mad tho?

it appears this is your first day playing. so here's some advice.

be a hermit for awhile, find a secluded spot out in the woods away from any bodies of water.
set up a little settlement.
get learning points and unlock skills, start with the cheap ones like hunting, lumberjack, stoneworking, fishing, foraging etc.
explore.
watch out for boars and bears.
go fishing, the easiest way to get food starting out.
look for clay.
MOST IMPORTANT read the haven & hearth wiki (google it) and learn how to do things.

i don't want to sound like a dick here but most villages won't want a person who's played for 1 day and doesn't know how to do a lot of stuff. you don't need a super character to be valuable to a village, but you'll want to show them you're able to accomplish things (like building a farm, making products). basically, you're better off as a hermit for now, figure things out, get a friend irl to play with you if you want, once you have a better handle on the game, then look for a village.

good luck

No need to lead the neophytes to a quick death. Anyone who has died of swimming forgot they were playing a super serious deadly funhouse.

Swimming will kill you in a hurry, build a boat.
Come back two hours earlier.

You might like to look in the Dwarves & Thieves section of the form. Often villages will recruit members there, you might even find some like minded people who want to form up.

You may find the violent perma death in the game may be why some people do not stop to chat, you might look quite scary and dangerous, although I'm guessing you're just wearing linen.

Contradiction? Fish are in bodies of water, so which one? Just felt like pointing this out real quick

There is no contradiction, just a fair amount of walking. :D

exactly, and you don't necessarily need a boat to fish either. but the benefit of living off the waterways far outweighs the inconvenience of dragging a boat a minimap or 2
