Best time to cut down trees.

Postby deathc4 » Thu Aug 06, 2009 10:55 am

When is the optimal time to cut down a tree? I noticed that even the small stumps provided the same # of logs as the large ones. Which made me think: Do the smaller trees (younger ones) produce the same # of trunks that larger ones produce? I would test this theory out on my own but ITS DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANY TREES!

So, anyone have an answer?

Full grown fir trees produce two logs, ones in stage just before that produce one log, and the previous stages only produce blocks.

Hey, I thought this was an analysis of growth rate versus block yield! :x

It's kind of hard to make a meaningful analysis when the time it takes to get to the last stage is random. If someone could dig up the average time it takes for any single tile to be hit by the decay function, then we could make a meaningful analysis. But even as it is, I believe that for maximum lumber per unit of time you should let the firs grow fully. From my experience it takes less time for one to grow from the stage before the last to the last stage than it takes it to grow from the sapling to the stage before the last.
