So, New to this kind of

Postby Adriath » Mon Dec 06, 2010 7:40 am

My cousin and I started last night. We built a small camp, had a bunch of baskets, and eventually gained enough LP (Got a lot of cups for water) to make a plow, plow all the way to the river and lay stone on our new 'road', make a tiny house, then finish up by building a small fence and a cart. We have a well now also, and a couple of cupboards worth of food/water/materials. Now I'm curious as to what we do. We have a lot of food from wild animals, and there are a few villages (In each direction, actually) close by. I haven't seen the names yet, but I was curious about our next move. I don't think that the river next to us has fish in it (Unless they all do) though, and we aren't able to kill boar or bears yet. We don't have bricks yet, either.

Your first mistake was building the road out to the river, I'm sorry to say. You want to be near a river, but far enough from it that when you actually start building, your development can't be seen from the river in question. That way, random passers-by won't find your village.

I made that mistake when I started with a bunch of friends who were later killed by raiders.

I'll be sure that we move some time, then. Thanks.

While waiting for replies, I checked out most of the northern villages. One was nice, a wooden wall(Like, an actual fortress wall, bigger than just a fence) enclosing everything. It didn't look like anyone was on. A little further north there were a lot of runestones on a paved plot, messages leaving e-mails for trading. Looking for another group of people to talk to still, though.

I would highly recommend building your own wooden palisade wall for protection and getting enough learning points for Yeomanry so you can stake a claim over your belongings. Those two things are a great deterrent to opportunist theives just passing by.

You might consider starting to collect Wild Wind Sown seeds that can be foraged from the surrounding area and drying them on a drying rack to get seeds to start farming. That will help you get a nice constant supply of food.

You will actually need yeomanry to build a palisade, so do that.
