A Census

Postby Peter » Tue Aug 11, 2009 2:47 am

I've set up a Google Docs poll to learn a little bit about how the H&H community is structured.

Fill it out here:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform ... zFTMnc6MA..

If you'd like to share your responses, feel free to do so below.
I'll be going over the collected data later and I'll include the results here.

Results:
Available here.
Still accepting responses.

Westvale is not a village or really even a group, there's just a few of us.

OK. I'll keep it on for this version but the next one will remove it.
I went by notability on the most recent map and forum presence, but in future surveys I'll be going off of this data.

I realized something while filling this out. I've never been stolen from. Lost a lot to server crashes, and had the one incident where jorb looked in my crucible, forgot to delete the clue with his admin-mojo, and sent me on a paranoid goose chase for three days.

Actually, now that I think about it, my first cast iron was stolen. But that was because I left it in a wicker basket near the RoB. Ah, the early days.

Also, what's the distinction between PvE and Sandbox? I marked Sandbox because what I actually enjoy is building and crafting stuff, though I've finished most of my personal land. Given that and the imminent it's-all-gonna-be-gone-anyway, I've taken to murdering animals (presumably about the only vs. Environment you can get) as my primary act in the game.

Yeah for maps i was marking places i found as:

Villages have village idols.
Sites are camps with several people or multiple claims.
Claims are camps with few people or a single claim.
Landmarks are terrain features.

The distinction I have in mind between PvE (Player vs. Environment, to distinguish it from PvP, Player vs. Player) and Sandbox is that PvE focuses on the environment challenging the player and Sandbox is focused on the player challenging themselves to, for instance, carve an accurate set of the Nazca lines.

I may repeat the "What is the absolute least you would be willing to keep when the new map is generated?" question for a couple of reasons- for one, it could be worded better, and I think there's a few more options that could be added... Maybe "One character only" and "Reincarnate all characters as if killed" and "Character, inventory, and whatever he can lift", though I doubt that last one is even technically feasible.

So far I've got some illuminating responses to the "next priority" question as well. The three most common themes I've seen are improved black arts/ranging balance, Boating, and server stability, though my personal favorite is "I want everything to be awesome." Well, more or less.

Any questions you would like to see asked would be good to mention here.

I havent been able to acess a computer so Im peck typing on a psp so excuse the many ensuing errors. I wrote combat balance and divesity because as it stands now if me and 4 of my closest homies went on a well planned and funded barbarous spree, we wouldnt stand a chance against a god player despite our numbers and attack coordination and the night we log off some white knight high on moral whippits will kill us in our sleep. It kinda makes going out at night not appropriately scary. continued
