Wiki - Interest Thread

Wikia has started to suck shit, and I'm very willing to setup a base for the wiki (set up all the templates, food bases all of that stuff) and have people fill in information as it goes. I made this thread to ascertain two things (please respond if you read, whether a yes or a no, and leave input!):
1)Anyone have a place other than wikia that we can actually host an hnh wiki? Using Mediawiki preferably and having Semantic Mediawiki as a minimum for addons
2)Is anyone even interested in having a working and proper wiki anymore? Do people still use the current one? Will people who used it before use it again?

Thank you and I await replies anxiously. If this doesn't happen I'll just toss these things on a personal wiki, but I'd rather not work twice, so if a public one is setup I don't mind doing this there

Yes i want to see this happen DatOneGuy. The haven and hearth wiki we have now is just terrible because of the new wiki layout and such. The old one was just fine but yes i do want to see you make your own and pretty sure people will help adding info to the new place with a better layout of course and that i think it will be much better then the one we have now.

The wiki layout can be changed, but it always likes to default back to the shitty new one, they also broke a lot of things in wikia when moving, including infoboxes.

Even with the messed up layout and somewhat outdated information, the wiki is still an essential tool for playing h&h. I'm sure a better host would encourage more people to use and edit it.

What's the big problem with that one? Not everything is perfect, but I thought most was correct?

The new 'royal blue' layout is an eyesore and looks terrible, I think that's the biggest problem. When they updated the layout they also broke the sidebar, the infobox, and 'Semantic Mediawiki' ,what this means is that when you go to look for example 'Deer Meat' to see what you can make out of it (There was an old "Required By: " area, it doesn't work. I've tried fixing it, as have others, but it seems to just be fucked after the move, we also lost a fair bit of data and for some reason even the admins (Myself and Darkren) can't edit the sidebar or some other things.

If we could fix this (got no response trying to fix it from wikia, or getting the old style to be the 'normal' for our wiki part) we could keep wikia. I have nowhere to host it so I can't host a new one, but if someone knows a place that lets you setup public wikis, or if someone is willing to host it, I'd be willing to lay down the groundwork.

I can't imagine anyone really playing this game without the wiki, despite the many problems it has. I'm guilty of not adding/updating info when I could though. Honestly I've never modified a wiki, though I'm sure I could probably manage.

To me wikia seems cruddy, but usable. Of course I don't know how much work gets put into it to make it work even as well as it does now. If you get a private host what happens when they get burned out, ragequit, etc? Is there a way to mirror the site or have multiple admins that can back the data up?
