Blaze and Ronald?

Postby Moogie » Mon Jan 24, 2011 12:45 am

I got tired of hearing the music whenever I entered a cabin or started fishing, so I was going to delete these files (or replace them with silence) when I came across the "blaze" and "ronald" music tracks.

I gotta say, they're both awesome to listen to! I feel like I've heard them somewhere before. Ronald's my favourite of the two though.

What are they used for in the game? They seem too upbeat and fast-paced for H&H. xD

My guess is they're just 'dummied out' and not actually in use.

I'd listen to them but I have no idea how to get them to play since they're .res files (which is what they were when I found them in haven-res.jar) I have a sneaking suspicion what they might be from but I'd like to hear them first.

People always say I am lucky because music on H&H NEVER loads for me, no matter what internet I seem to be on.

They're just renamed midi files. It was a complete guess, but all the H&H music sounds like midi to me so that was the first thing I tried. xD

And yeah, you are pretty lucky not to hear it. My sound settings never seem to work, so I usually had to ":bgm off" every time I entered a cabin or whatever. The cave one isn't bad though, it's also quieter than the rest so it's not as jarring when it starts playing.

I've got 5 second silent midi files replacing the annoying ones now though. :)

I'm pretty sure the fix that's posted somewhere should fix that ;) and would also work in reverse.

Edit: Ronald is a midi version of "U.N. Owen was her?", Blaze is probably from some touhou game too.

Did you try deleting the soundbank in "C:/Program Files/Java/jre6/lib/audio/"?

Huh. I knew they were midis (I recall a thread about 'remixed' cabin music where Kaka said it was just a glitch where all the midi instruments were reset to piano), but changing the filetype just didn't work for me. Odd.

Anyway, g1real confirmed my suspicion - Blaze was a touhou fan, so I suppose they're there 'in his honor' or somesuch.

edit:

also am I the only one who doesn't dislike Haven's music or something? The only sounds I have a problem with at all are the ridiculously loud SPLASH noise when dropping things in water and the fact that I associate the spending-LP sound more with H&H than Zelda now. :(

They're compressed or encoded by something I'm pretty sure of that.

I like the music too yeah, there's really nothing wrong with them.

Blaze's avatar and character are of Tenshi Hinanai from Touhou, and this theme would play when you were at/reading Blaze's statue in W3. I never visited it myself.

The other one is called Ronald because of this video.

I have no idea why mcroll'd was integrated into H&H.
Come back two hours earlier.

Yeah I discovered these long ago using the commands.

:bgm sfx/music/themes/ronald

and

:bgm sfx/music/themes/blaze

Pretty random stuff listening to Mcroll'd while cutting trees.
