Where all the animals at?

What is this, mass extinction? I've been traveling for at least an hour and a half now looking for something to kill, and nothing. All I find are corpses and skeletons of animals. Did they lower spawn rates or something?

Because this would cause a unbalanced situation, due to the fact w4 is smaller and have a more dense population of players, this means more competition..
