Zombie Hearth

Postby JoeNightmare » Fri Feb 04, 2011 7:46 pm

First as a disclaimer, the makers are not thinking about this as far as i know.
I was thinking about the perfect zombie game. Not a shooter game where you run around with a shotgun killing zombies, but a true zombie survival game. Me and a few zombie loving friends were talking and a few games popped up but most were just running around with shotguns, less survival and more shooter. We all were playing haven and hearth at the time and i started using the phrase "like haven and hearth" a lot and finally it hit me.

If modified to a certain extent (ie instead of a forest, an unreal big city) would haven and hearth be a good zombie survival game?

Think about haven and hearth for a second. Every second your in haven and hearth you are building your shelter for survival and when your not your raising your skills for survival. You are constantly on the look out for wild animals and other people who might kill you for fun and since it's perma death you don't do this casually. You sometimes steal or even kill when needed and if all fails, you run away and try to escape however possible. you band together with others for survival and when someone wrongs you you either let it slide or kill them as they sleep. You fight for survival the entire time, even when your not logged on. It is one of the best, if not the best, survival games i've ever played.
So if you change it up to fit a zombie apocalypse, would it not be a good zombie survival game?

I would really like a H&H zombie apocalypse survival setting.

I actually had already thought of a zombie game very similar to H&H. Death would be permanent, and it would be 3d P2P, and you would become a zombie when you die. If you want another survivor you would buy another character sheet. Zombies would be basically brainless to keep them from being used for griefing.

I believe this is the right answer. Honestly, why craft an awesome game off of a knockoff of itself?

yeah.... no.
In minecraft zombies or other monsters are not scary nor are really necessary to avoid. #1: they only come at night. #2: you dig a hole and you won't have to worry ever.
It's not scary at all nor is it seriously survival. Minecraft is sandbox building and will never be anything more then that to me and a lot of other people.

I sincerily doubt they'd be much scarier here. Bear wrestlers/palisades/impenetrable mine-fortresses/rivers nothwithstanding... A implacable monstrosity is only scary if yannow, you can't easily avoid it, can't defeat it, or happens only rarely enough so you don't become jaded.
