The foxes from hell

Alright, a few questions and general discussion about foxes.

1) What melee skill do you need with a stone axe to even take one on?

What do you guys think about how strong they are?

Foxes get stronger the farther you get from the center, as do all animals.
If you're near the center, you can probably hit them reliably if you have a sword and at least 8 skill in it.

I found I could take down foxes and boars (near the center) with a sword, shield, and 9 skill in melee; so long as I kept combat advantage in my favor.
I timed switching between combat meditation and shield maneuvering tactics, most of the time they couldn't touch me, and whatever few hits they had were completely deflected by my leather armor.

If you're trying to kill one with a stone axe, I'd recommend at least level 12 in melee weaponry; and a shield is vital.

Hunting small game is my primary activity right now, so I can make sausages to boost my attributes.
I'd say I'm somewhat effective, wouldn't you agree?

You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

As an experienced hunter of Bottleneck, the wilderness Bay12 outpost, I've got mixed feelings on their strength. Their attack power is dead on, and shouldn't be lowered. But it seems rather ridiculous that it takes 7 arrow hits to kill a fox. So, I'd like to see the foxes avoid so much HP inflation and see Perception damage increases implemented in the near future. On the other hand, it makes sense for boar and bears to require multiple arrow shots, but again I'd like to see the damage increases from Perception soon.

However, while foxes in the dangerous parts of the world seem to be suitable, I do think reducing the entry requirements to hunt small game in civilized areas is a must.

I agree completely....as i said in another thread, when you get out towards the borderlands, I think the animals are plenty scary (though maybe with a few too many HP, especially the foxes)
But in the inner rings, which seem to essentially be training zones, I think they need to be weakened quite a bit.
