reek of theft collected time?

Postby Peedor » Thu Feb 17, 2011 11:20 am

Hi!
Sorry if it was discussed earlier but can anyone answer how much time the collected reek of theft will be in the ranger's inventory? Wiki says that the scent stays for 2 days and 16 hours. If I steal items from personal claim and then I will hide far away so I stay uncaught for 2 days and 16 hours, that means I'm safe now and can return without fear of being offline-killed?

That is correct. They will even disappear from inventories and containers if they were collected. Just keep your hearth safe for a few days.

Thieves make the game interesting and keep everyone on their toes. A good game of cat and mouse between a ranger and a thief is a beautiful thing. Having the ability to steal in this game opens up a broad horizon of activities for people on both sides of the spectrum. Tough if you don't like it but don't hurl names around at newbies.

Same can be said for people who hunt down the scum. People like me (soon). We keep the scum behind their 2 palisades and wishing they just knew how to live honestly instead of hiding behind walls like script kiddies behind a proxy.

Sounds like somebody's suuuuper butthurt, haha. Do you realize how self-righteous you're being in an online game where fair game is killing noobs who just started an hour ago? I bet somebody stole your fishing pole or something early on in the game. Chill, bro. Good luck being a ranger.

No, I just take my real life views and apply them to a game, I like to roleplay the good guy, because I am a good guy. Taking advantage of people, killing someone who hasn't done anything, stealing things someone else worked hard for, is all taking away from someone else's experience, and if you can't understand that, and can't feel another person's pain when they have to start from completely nothing all over again, then you really have no heart and are not a valuable member of any sort of gaming community whatsoever.

Punching people in the face may be fun to you, might even be great fun and you may take great pleasure in doing so, however, that does not make it right. Just because this is a game, does not mean the time someone has invested in their work is less valuable, and people who take advantage of and exploit this are just downright mean-spirited people who probably got picked on a lot by bullies in school, and now feel like picking on someone else, now that they're the big man on campus. Instead of abusing your power, use it to help someone, who knows, it may even feel good.

Man, you are funny. You think being griefer is just "Hey, I created new char. Let's GRIEEEF BWAHAHAHAAA!"
Do you know how long it takes to be settled enough to dare to kill someone? You need brickwall, at least bronze, but steel preferably. You need high UA, high Melee, high STR, high AGI, high CON, tonnnes of LPs for all the battle skills, rage, theft, vandalism, murder.

And finally you need guts for it, as if you unluckily hit your first victim and find out he is a village main hunter with MM 350 and his arrow is sticked in your butt sooner than you managed to hit the Bloodlust hotkey and you got mesmerized by that "hey-he-looked-like-newbie" ranger. You need to overcome your death and start up from the beginning again (well with some LPs to buy you farming and make 6x6 personal claim).

I am not griefer, but they have my respect. Maybe one day I will become one. :)

EDIT: BTW if we do not have griefers in this game, you will give up playin bored after two weeks and your "Wonderful gaming community would SUCK"

So you'd make all that effort - the same effort that could be spent getting skills that could actually help you more - to ruin someone else's gaming experience for the sake of your own sick pleasures? Especially someone who is peacefully minding their own business? I could see doing this to people that make a living off of other people's misfortunes, but to do this to someone with absolutely no way of defending themselves against it? You're a nice guy. Hope you don't apply any of this logic in real life, if so, good luck.

And no, I would not "give up playing bored after two weeks" if we did not have griefers. It would simply mean I might actually be able to leave my palisade open for more than a couple minutes, god forbid.
