Hello, Hearthlings

Postby CorinneLazar » Fri Mar 04, 2011 5:55 pm

Hi,
I'm just introducing myself. My name is Corinne, and my character is called Clover. I'm brand new to H&H, just figuring everything out, and am looking forward to meeting all of you. If anybody has any advice for a newbie, or would be interested in playing with me, let me know :P

Didn't we just have one of these? Oh well, it's nice to meet you. I wish you the best of luck and hope you meet some nice people. That said, I work better with specific questions than blanket advice, so if you ever need any help, I live on the 'How Do I' board for better or worse.

Thanks :)

I guess I'm just wondering what to do. I have a fence and a little house. But I don't have any seeds to farm, so I'm just living off apples at the moment. I've only seen one other person, and they just broke my containers and walked away.

Corinne welcome to the game.

The basic advice for a noob: Read the wiki at http://www.ringofbrodgar.com if you have any questions on how things work in this game.

Actively read the forums, if you have a question chances are it's already been asked. ;)

Be kind in the game, protect yourself and most of all good luck!

Okay, thanks. It's dark and I'm hungry and scared :)
Is there a way I can join a village or something so I have some protection and food and help? Or should I keep building my own farm?

I'm sorry I'm so useless. Just a damsel in distress!

Dwarves and Thieves is a good place to look for information pertaining to joining a village.

to farm you need to find some wild windsown weed or trade for some seeds from a neighbor. you'll need about 100 perception * exploration to effectively see wild windsown weed. once you get them you can dry them on a drying rack or herbalist table (note that you'll need to have farmed 8 flax or hemp to build an herbalist table, but they dry much faster on one). foraging, fishing, and catching chickens or rabbits are good early food sources. good luck.

You might also want to have a look out for an abandoned claim to borrow seeds from. You can usually tell that a claim is abandoned because the fields haven't been plowed and everything on it is a deep tinge of red. Also, every crop on an abandoned claim will be harvestable, if there are some that are still growing, it's not abandoned.

Be careful, if it turns out its not abandoned, or someone sees you doing it, they may take offense.

I would love to play with you. I'm not sure how we would find one another in the game but I would definitely make the trip for some company. Especially the company of a like-minded individual.
