Suicide my char?

I went up the ladder, and I know my way around H&H (the basics anyways). Before the World 4 reset thing I was in a village but never really got to look at the bits of H&H society, due to having a lack of time to play. Anyways, I'm back... but there is not a single animal other than a fox around me in a huge radius. I can't get any bones to make a saw and was wondering, should I just learn swimming and go in the river a bit? If I do suicide, I was wondering:

1. Will I be able to access the newbie chest again, and

2. Can I use my old name again?

Sorry, wasn't sure whether I should have put it in there. Any thoughts on if I should suicide or not? I can think up a new name.

If you're basing the entire reason to do it because you can't find animals around you then no probably not. They are much less frequent in this world and you sometimes might have to go quite a distance from your home to get a good hunting session in.
