Get a decent ranged shot in on a boar and itll run like a little whore. Nothing to be sacred of as you can outrun it anyway.

Boars seem to have about a 50/50 chance of being passive. I believe it's only bears that are guarenteed to aggro if you get close.

Anything below level 5 is not aggressive. Deers are always docile, however.

Be lucky you don't pass by a level 6 fox only to think it's like every other fox that doesn't attack, only to have it chase you back to your boat.

This is not true. Boars will aggro once you're in their line of sight and I can verify that Boars aggro as low as lv2 (Never seen a lv1 boar before). Bears also always aggro. Foxes cap out at lv4. You are correct that Deer are always passive, right up until you punch it.

Huh. I've walked directly around / in front of / beside Boar's on new characters several times... I know you can't initiate combat with any animals before getting hunting, but can they initiate combat with you? If that's the case then it explains my experiences, if not then Tymora must love me.
