-Title Change- My character and my life :D

Postby RangerRyan » Fri Mar 11, 2011 11:01 pm

I found a nice little hut near a river (Stupid move, I know) and there were some Deer carcasses nearby. I took the carcasses to the hut, got my survival to lvl10, and then skinned/butchered them. Now, I don't have Yeomanry yet, so I can't do that. The problem is, I'm too nervous to log out with 3 Deer worth of food/hide/bone unprotected. I guess I could super-grind to Yeomanry, but I'm getting tired and want to check some of my other games I play. What do I do?

Thanks in advance!

My initial OP
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 1, Entry 1 of Journal Keeping.
So, now I am going to keep a "Diary/Journal", and I already have had exciting stuff happen since before :D. I logged in, checked on all of my stuff and then went in my house. I left my house, and decided to try the ":bgm sfx/god" I learned from the "How do I - Music problem" thread. Then, out of no where, a guy with a soldier sword, sling, and a bear cape pops up. I am like, "Oh, sh**, i'm screwed.". The person stops, I type a "?" and then he asks if I have a boat. I reply that my boat had been stolen last night. I offer to help build a new one, so I start going. I ask how many materials it takes, and he responds, "40 boards and 5 breven.". I'm scared, thinking, "Is he russian!?" and ask what nation. I was right. Now, the reason he needs a boat is he caught some boars, and didn't have a boat. He then offers me 2-of-3 complete boars. We become friends, he says he will teach me Russian (Very helpful incase I run into some hostiles!), if I help him learn better English. Pictures below.

Not sure what sort of answer you're looking for here. Grind yeomanry if you really think you should and most people probably won't bother to risk leaving scents for such meager items. But really it won't stop a lot of people anyways if they WANT to take your stuff.

You could just leave it without a claim and it still might be ok next time you're on.

Yah, I was just hoping for a solution that didn't warrant me spending .5-1 hour getting Yeomanry. Thanks for the speed reply though :D

If your deer meat gets stolen or not really depends on who're your neighbours, if you have shitty neighbours they will probably take it (I'm not saying I wouldn't), while some others're nice to each other and newb-friendly.

How much of that camp did you work on yourself? It doesn't look abandoned, as it isn't really decayed. There's another hearthfire outside, so it's very possible it still has an owner. Good on you for the carcasses, though!

Newbie eh? Try to get in contact with nearby villages, most of them are friendly to people who pose no threat. If you know where you are in the world, and happen to be to the far north or north east, then we should be able to help you out. Also id just carry the most important parts of the deer on me when i logged out..so the hides and antlers.
Gib me monies or i repot u

I never took a "Before" picture, so you will have to believe me. I only took the picture of my camp AFTER I tidied it up. The house was decaying (Which, IIRC, takes ~1 month?) and took me 4 logs (16 Boards) to fix it to max health/integrity. The fence had massive holes in it, so I had to tear it down and restart the fence (This was when I added the fence hugging the house frame). I also had to go scavenging for the seeds/plants, so that was on me. The house and the cupboards were already there though. The "Dirt" in the far right side was there, and I want to get rid of that ugly pavement going straight through the middle of the 2 plot/field things.

Build a lean-to, put a container or carcass in it and sleep in it and it will have the same effect as if you had claimed whatever you put inside.

Well good on ya then mate. You seem capable enough. :D if you end up being in my quadrant / area maybe we could trade sometime.

You just got to accept the occasional setback, which can sometimes even mean the loss of your character. Listen to Dust in the Wind to get in the right mindset ;)
