Interesting Moments in the new world

Postby greaterwolf » Fri Mar 18, 2011 3:46 pm

So far I have already had the (pleasure/displeasure) of meeting an "interesting" person in the new world. He plain and simple wanted to rob me, and he earned his keep. Sat in the back of my boat for a full hour before I finally gave up (hit the end of the river, no alt routes) and decided it would just be easier to build a new boat. As easy as doing nothing for an hour sounds, for this period of time he was at least attempting to make it look like he wanted to be my friend (stalking someone is a great start...) so I decided I would at least get some fun out of this before losing my boat. Speaking in broken and simple English as he was not a native speaker I decided that I would not be either, using the amazing powers of google, I became a native speaker of Afrikaans for an hour (translate is dodgy but I figured he probably didn't speak the language anyway). For the next little while anything that was said to me was met with a response of shitty English or a question mark, unless it was written in Afrikaans, as much as it took effort to work the translator back and forth just to be playing as a guy from South Africa it was fun. After my hour was up my boat was lost, as he picked it up and hearthed the moment I was out of the boat. Looking back I could have just parked the boat in deep water and stopped him from being able to get out but somehow I still feel I came out on top, my journey was hindered and I built a new boat in under 5 minutes anyway (nothing stored on the old boat so nothing lost).

Anyone else had some strange encounters already?

I find it odd that someone can jump into a boat but that you can't push them off of it...

You can initiate combat with someone sitting in the same boat as you. Unlikely that either of them had rage, but it's an option.

It's good that you had fun with it at least. Boats are cheap and nothing but your pride got hurt anyway =)

I had a guy walk through my camp (going around the claim that probably surprised him) walk over to me and press himself against me for about 5 minutes. then he carried a log I was going to cut into blocks away. but not off my screen. he carried it about, oh id say 5? 6? tiles, and then dropped it.

also had 2 guys lead a pair of boars into my camp. but that's not strange, that's just general faggotry.

I did something like that, but instead of waiting in a boat for an hour, I simply waited for the guy to leave the area, then crept in behind him, and stole his boat ! I felt sorry for the guy... until, that is, I discovered it had a bunch of fish, and some curiosities like shocked frogs and cat gold.

I met a guy and he memorized my char by mistake, the name was "Hair Puller 2", so I "erase" him from my kin list. Two minutes later I found a dead guy over a pool of blood surrounded by an aurochs herd...

Haha, my hair pullers have names, like "Elisa the Hair Puller".

When I was first starting my ranch, a guy came over and started harassing me to start a boat for him. Having been thieved in the past, I politely refused. He then went on to harass and beg me because he was too lazy to get boatbuilding. (I didn't have a claim at the time) So I logged out for about two hours. When I came back in, my trees were decimated but luckily he was gone.

My friends and I are building our town next to a fairly long, large lake. On the second day of World 5, A guy shows up and starts deforesting everything around our proto town. After talking with him myself, and my buddy talking to him, we put together that "they" are protesting Communism, the new LP system, and trying to make my friends and I quit. Not sure how deforesting would make us quit but off they went... Every day the deforestation became larger and a couple days ago i got Rage, I spent a couple hours rage killing and generally beating down the guy/guys/bots but he'd just make new ones as fast as I could knock em down. This continues to even now, there is a patch around our village that looks like the meteor strike at Tunguska in Russia. The nearest trees are mini maps away from our town and yet STILL the deforest. On the third day, they noticed me chipping stone for the palisade base then began turning all rock outcroppings into rune stones saying "fuck you commies!!!!." Now there isn't a rock outcropping within mini maps of our town. To the deforesters, if they are reading this..... Thanks for the immense grassland, the material to build our palisade, and the fact that no ram will be built near our town in the next decade. Morons. LMFAO
