Please note that this will be a very long recollection of what I've been through, so the times may be slightly off. There is no TL;DR. I'm not upset in any way, only surprised, befuddled, and frustrated that despite my best efforts, my city is razed, the town is gone, my friends are dead, and there's not a damn thing I can do about it but share my story around the internet campfire known as the forums. Day one starts off mere hours after world five began.
Day 1. I start off the world with a village from w4. We are robbed/get everything dumped into the water four separate times before we end up moving to a second location and one of us can afford yeomanry to get us some basic protection until we can build a palisade. All members focus on bringing in bones/leather.
Day 1.5. Someone finds us yet again and decides to lure boars into our town to break everything/kill our people. Several hours later someone has theft and robs the claim blind before we can even begin to imagine setting up our palisade/dry our leather. One of our members manages to set up a claim a bit away and get leather before having it stolen while offline after being on for 15 hours straight. The griefers return three separate times to steal our leather/anything of value so we can't build the palisade or do anything worthwhile. Multiple members, including our leader, are killed using the whole 'plant leeches while KO'd' tactic. We manage to shrug it off and continue our work as usual.
Day 2. We pack up everything with value that hasn't already been stolen and move again, a good 10-15 minutes away onto a nice patch of soil with q60 everything nearby. We set up camp and immediately get to work on building a palisade, working on leather, the basics of defense. One of our members who set up far away from us was fortunate enough to make and keep some leather before his claim was also robbed blind. We set up a palisade and hope for the best. I log off early while the village works on other things. A few of our members pick up ranging and find who robbed the place, and issue a warning to the town that a thief is in their midst. We have no way of telling if the actions of the criminal were supported, so we refrain from claiming the entire village in retaliation. The claim would have been 150k LP worth too, enough to easily shut down most, if not all, of the village to a majority of the members without theft.
Day ~2.5. The place was, yet again, robbed, and an enemy claim was thrown up on our palisade to prevent us from using it. (Our own fault for not claiming it, really.) One of our members, by the power of no-lifing, gets vandalism and builds the palisade around the claim so we can construct the wall for our city. The town rejoices, and we continue advancement as usual. Enemy scouts patrol near the base occasionally and chase down several members. One of the active villagers is slain. The village plans a disorganized and poorly executed retaliation by placing 10-15 hearthfires in front of their gate. This, of course, is easily dealt with. We set up our village claim and wait for the setup period to pass.
Day 3. I log on to see 30-40 hearthfires outside of our gates with multiple bear-caped people scouting the outer perimeter of the base. There is a rather large claim outside of our base that digs straight into the heart of the town, preventing use of the community house/village idol. (Members didn't claim the wall like asked, our own fault again.) 1-3 enemy alts are standing at our gates and are active for the next 24 hours, preventing use. The only capable member who can defend us is locked in a makeshift vault with people sitting outside of it, watching to see if he will leave at almost all hours of the day. There are always at least three people waiting to gang up and kill him should he attempt to do anything but sit in his house. Several people were chased/killed during the fiasco. We recover somewhat, and attempt to get back to business while being limited in everything we do. Starvation was a major issue as the crops were currently unusable.
Day 4. The city was broken into using the whole 'zig zag' mining trick. To give you an example of how much time they spent just to break in, my alt character specifically made to scout the mine ended up almost dying to starvation trying to find where the other cave entrance is that was used to get underground near us. It wasn't even close to us. Speculation is that the alts standing in front of the gate served as a 'radar' of sorts, to give a general direction of where our base was relative to the diggers.
Most of the villagers are slain, including several of the highly active townsfolk. Everything that doesn't require a ram is destroyed. Forge? gone. Chain mail? gone. Our town pet deer who lived with us within the city limits? gone. The city is crushed and camped for several hours straight. One member ended up dislocating his jaw sucking off the raiders so he might be able to join them. The raiders, after two to three hours, leave the city at last. A few members log on to check the damage. Within an hour or two the raiders are back, yet again, and kill off everyone who attempted to escape the hellhole known as our town. At this point the only real casualties are alts. They camp for an hour or so to pick off anyone who logs on and tries to flee. At this point I give up on any real effort of saving this place and my people, and head off to sleep.
Day 5. I log onto a scout outside of the city limits, and run around to see how bad everything is while contacting members who managed to survive to see what future plans are. The last village warrior is sitting in his hole, with a good four to five people sitting outside waiting to kill him. Druid helmets are reported on the killers. Within the hour he is slain. The lawspeaker, warrior, village champion who dumped over 100k lp early on to help us through the tough times, is dead. Any remaining hope of a leader died with him.
I finally surrender, and stop trying to fix the village. I apply to another village several hours away from the raiding city. I figure this will be a safe bet, and can start anew with new faces to talk to.
Within two hours of being accepted, before I'm even given contact information to log in and meet who I'll now be playing and chatting with, the city is raided and the villagers are murdered. Reports say they were killed by the exact same people who staked out my town for days before finally managing to kill us.
And now, here I am. Finishing up my tale of my adventures in world five. My tale of fruitless effort, of futile resistance, of hope being left to die in a desolate wasteland of 'lol got u retarded n*ggers', is all here for your eyes to feast on. Enjoy my friends.
