Lucky Escapes

Post in this thread your lucky escapes from death in this game.

I'll start,

I had stolen from some noobs, leaving theft scents, and some guy who just wanted some LP decided it'd be cool to track me down and wall me in (I was still building the second layer of palisade, and had forgotten to seal). He'd then made a gate into a section of the wall, and built a ram so it couldn't be destroyed by an alt or similar. By the time the glue had finished, a crash occurred, and if it had not been for the crash, my beloved character would've been summoned and murdered. Luckily, by the time the server was back up, the scents had expired, and I was home free after getting my friends to bail me out.

(w5-aurochs killed me 2 times at first sight...XD The lucky of w4 is a curse in w5 XD)

In World 3 there was a group of griefers, I think they were Isengard? Well, one time someone named "Demon666" came to us and offered to trade some of his metal for some of our wine. We agreed and I was elected to make the trade. I grabbed the buckets of wine and he had me jump in his boat and we went down to his fortress. When we got there he opened his gate and we went in, so far there had been no hint of violence. So we got in and he went into one of his houses to get the metal bars. While he was in the house, somebody else came with a ranger bow and took a shot at me. He missed, so I ran into one of Demon's houses, I didn't have any fighting skill. I didn't have a HF, so I couldn't teleport out. A few seconds later, Demon came into the house, followed by the dude with the ranger bow. They both started combat with me, and I miraculously escaped out the door of the building before they could actually hit me. I got out and ran for the, once again miraculously, open palisade gate and jumped into the (Miracle #3) boat and rode back to the our budding village, with them cussing me out as I left with his boat :).

The next day he destroyed his boat while I was fishing in it <.<

almost drowned in w2; i am normally careful but had forgotten to keep an eye on my stamina, so I started with only half a bar. luckily i had readied the flask exploit out of habit, which allowed me to drink water while i swam across the river

also got knocked out by a boar once in w5 (or late w4? cant remember)

You know... I used to think the animal kill chance was incredibly small. I've been playing 3 weeks, and a good chunk of the first one I was A) exploring overland and B) using the vanilla client. I was knocked down by animals at least 10 times, but the number was edging to 15, before the world ended. Not a single death. As of W5 I've been incapped 4 times now, still no deaths.

I don't get it. They must like me? I've seen my friend be knocked down 4 times and killed 3. It's oddly dichotomous.

W4, I left my house to go track a thief for some petty crime. They had stolen some wine from me and I just wanted to scare them a bit to stop them from coming back -- maybe ask for some token thing back. Two minutes in-land, with hide objects on (but not x-ray) Two Stealth Bears from behind rocks jump out to attack me. Now, I wasn't a push over but I had my limits. One bear? I could handle. Two? No. I jetted backwards at full speed guzzling water as fast as I could, stopping periodically to nullify some of their damage. Finally hit shallow water with ~10 shp left and ~15% stamina. I then promptly sat there for fifteen minutes healing before killing both bears.

Drag the skeletons of the bears or at least one of them to the base of the theif and leave a runestone saying 'I could handle two bears easily' or something like that. That way, they know they stole from a dangerous person
