I'm pretty sure that they don't want to keep doing maps like they are doing now, as people will flock to the good spots and ignore the rest of the map rather than explore.

It would also make the cartography skill that they are talking about pretty useless.

Yeah, a final release of the old world would be nice. I've just logged in for the first time in months to get some xp in preparation for the new skills... boy oh boy... the deforrestation is simply breathtaking.....
