What do you think of macroing? [poll]

Postby al » Fri May 06, 2011 11:26 am

Do you macro yourself or have ever done it before systematically? If not, what do you think of people who do?

Please, vote here: http://www.99polls.com/poll_72205:1 (poll form is on the right)

Poll options are retarded, and so is this topic.

Your choices for the poll are terrible:
1)Macroing whether it's bad or not is no reason to be shot.
2)While you don't have to be 'omg so smart genuis!!!' to use or make macros, not using them or denying their existence all but sets you behind others.

With that said my choice:
I like macros for doing basic things that are annoying, for making things that are boring and stupid but shouldn't be like paving huge areas easy, why not use Ctrl-L to set an area to pave and have it done? Why not have a machine that paves faster or bigger areas? Tile by tile is agonizing especially with the area. I recently had to pave something like a 200x150 area, even with bots it took me a long time, they weren't terribly sophisticated, very clumsy, ran into each other, but doing it alone would take a hell of a lot longer.

I think some things shouldn't be macro'd and their abuse should only show that something is bad and needs to be fixed, as the devs put it (but most devs don't).

I'll keep macroing away though, I hope you enjoy the game either way whether you do or not 4 people who voted.

Can't say I'm a fan of macroing, it can seriously destroy a game.
Regardless, I can't blame people for using macros to do some ridiculously repetitive tasks (right now, field work is such a thing in HnH, paving too).
In general, I think it should be to the game mechanics to require as few repetitive tasks as possible, especially if they are simple to perform.
I believe improvements to field work and paving are already planned, though (I want to designate).

Didn't choose a poll option, I don't fully agree with either of them.

I definitely agree, you can see the devs doing this big time with the way mining is, don't think you can just run around, it's danger around every corner unless you snake mine, but then you'll never get delicious troll bones :)

Do not take it literally. I didn't want positive/negative answer to look as dull as "Macroing is bad/good".

You also only gave a positive/good answer as possible responses. Some of us have mixed views.
