Crafting

Postby Bigfish » Sun Sep 13, 2009 9:48 pm

Hi i would like to make a collection of items and the skill/attribute effecting them and appreciate your help .(I will update this post and you will see it on wiki later )

loftar wrote:In general, the quality of crafted items will be limited by the raw materials and tools used, and the skill values will only affect the quality downwards, if your values are lower than what the resulting item's quality would be otherwise. Sooner or later, we'll add to the crafting window so that it displays exactly which attributes affects the current recipe.

If you need a tool to craft items, tool qlvl influences crafted item qlvl by 1/4.

Sewing: ( dexterity based sometimes)
- all leather items
- clothes

Smithing:
- metal working recipes
- ?cauldron too?

Capentry:
- many wooden items (bow, ...)

Cooking:
- cooking recpies
- maybe effects potions?

Farming:
- effect seeds when planted?
- tree planting?

Survival:
- herbs
- Hides, Meat, bones from prey ( effected by tool too)
- trees? ( improve their quality while growing)

Would like to know what effects ceramics, wood cut down etc..
Some of the above may be wrong so correct me please ;)
Thanks for your help.

All the new values are mainly related to crafting. Different crafting recepies will, simply, require different values for optimal results. In general, the quality of crafted items will be limited by the raw materials and tools used, and the skill values will only affect the quality downwards, if your values are lower than what the resulting item's quality would be otherwise. Sooner or later, we'll add to the crafting window so that it displays exactly which attributes affects the current recipe.

There are a few actions which also depend on the various attributes. Farming, for instance, will affect the quality of the seeds you harvest. Survival affects the quality of herbs picked. There may be some other effects that I don't currently remember. (Both Farming and Survival are used in several crafting recipes as well, though)

Jackard wrote:Is Agility different from Dexterity?

Certainly. Agility represents general light-footedness, while dexterity represents... well... dexterity. Some crafting recipes (especially sewing related ones) depends on dexterity apart from its skill value.
Jackard wrote:What does Psyche do?

Currently, it only affects some of the more high-level recipes. It will probably gain other, more abstract qualities later.

Jackard wrote:Is Sewing used just for cloth/silk or does it include leather?
Is Carpentry just for construction or also shields and wooden items?

Sewing includes leather, and Carpentry is used for many wooden items.

farming doesn't affect seeds when harvested.

Word is that tree quality is affected by survival skill. Seems retarded to me but i don't have any proof of this, my first trees aren't done growing yet. I'd really like to know because tree farming was something I was planning on doing by specializing in...FARMING....but hey...w/e

Probably doesn't matter anyway, as I'm betting it's more affected by the quality of the soil and water you plant it in, and probably the seed itself. Perhaps even the pot?
Skill would probably be a secondary average in it.

The quality of the pot, soil and water in the pot, the seed(Cone, core, etc.), as well as the soil the sapling is planted in should affect the tree quality.

I'm not really sure how much each thing affects it, so I've only planted apple trees, using a q33 pot, q 95 soil, q58 water, and q10 cores.
Of the two that have grown to the third stage, one gives 13 quality branches while the other gives 11.

Farming/survival levels?

sounds like that random factor has more of an EFFECT than anything else

I don't know if you're ignorant or something, but it clearly states "will"

Agility is whole-body coordination. Dexterity is like hand-eye coordination in that it involves mastery over diminutive, isolated motions. Macro-/Micro-

Yeah, it says right there that it will, and yet your first post is saying that it doesn't.
