Update the map?

Postby SaintGilbert » Thu Jul 07, 2011 8:48 pm

Anyone considered updating the world map? A lot seems to have changed since the making of the current one. For instance, there are more villages than Las Vegas.

Talk to algeralith, no reason to whine in the forums.

Algerith has said that he will gladly label villages if you can pinpoint them on the map and tell him the name. I'm sure he'd also appreciate updated map tiles of the sort.

Now, I was going to do precisely this, but I'm lazy.

That is the current world map. No idea if the w3 and w4 maps are archived anywhere, but they are completely different.

It does not, however, indicate the nuked zones. Tread where you will at your own risk. (The nuked areas are at least blocked off from entering, though.)

I must have missed something. Nuked? Is there a thread or something detailing what you mean by "nuked"?

But that is not the current world map. It is outdated. There are settlements that have cropped up since it was made.

Many people don't want it to be updated because then it would show all the villages that were hidden before...

That IS the current world map. Check the map thread in The Wizards' Tower here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=17454

There is no official map published by Seatribe (Jorb & Loftar). You have to make your own maps via cartography. Thing is, they released the source code for players to modify (cause Loftar hates UI design and coding) and the players figured out how to extract and save the map data sent to them, compile it together, and put it on a website. You thus have the algeralith world map. It's only as accurate as the players make it.

Would be nice, but how do you automatically align it with the top level surface map? There is no fixed point of reference.
