A game for newbies?

Postby Divagador » Mon Sep 14, 2009 6:46 pm

Never.

This game is not for new players.

We are few people (6) very casual but we enjoyed the time that we play here. We build a little city in green area after reading a lot the forums and the wiki to understand everything.
We encountered a lot of problems to stay in there. First, one guy cut down all of food trees nearby. Well, thats not a problem, we can plant anothers.

But now...

When one of our guys log in and see that our city was DESTROYED and ROBBED we thinks: ... oh my god. We cannot understand how someone can destroy a wall in seconds. And not only the wall (palisade).
Then, I started to read forums more than before. I see that people never get a reset of LP. Maybe I don't get the post that say this but... why?.

I mean, how a little group of newbies can survive in this world?.

We are really sad at this moment, maybe we want to stay here but... how ?.

Anyway, thank you all and sorry for my english.

Yes, this game can be pretty harsh for newbies, it has a huge learning curve. It also filters out the weak a bit.

That said, I'm sorry to hear someone griefed you like that, last thing this community can use is players leaving because of someone's actions.

And of course:

AnonWat, I don't know why you had to whip out the asshole card, the guy wasn't whining, he was merely asking how he could avoid it in the future.

It sucks to be you, but it has happened to most of us. I lost a month old character who was pretty darn strong to the extremely strong, ice-cold currents of the River Pain, just North West of Brodgar.

Rebuild, but build FAR away, FAR FAR away, and you'll be fine.

That's a pretty good graph.

It's currently impossible to play H&H as a newbie. The game currently consists entirely of high-level content.

There are a few players that want to help newbies. Try joining the town of Borgdar, just north of the Ring of Brogdar, and they'll help you get past the starting difficulty.
Surprise.

You could argue newbies have it though, but it's not like everyone else is living their happy colourful life without any problems at all.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
