Welcome to Haven and Hearth's mature folk.

You'll get this alot, till you find *actual* mature people. Age has nothing to do with people when they're in a game. I've come across mature 12 year old dutch programmers and immature spamming fools who are 30 and work as a Graphic Designer.

I've currently found my balance, and I can say for sure, things are alot less dramatic, alot more helpful and alot more productive.

Every village i've been a part of previously has not been exactly totally mature, we've always had at least one lazy faggot who decided to not help out and then ask for help, or to not aid the village stocks and consume.

There's only four of us, but they're very nice people :)
Grand Walker of World 1 (w1).
Ex-Lawspeaker of New London, Deadwood and New Deadwood (w3).
Witness of the World 4 Great Explosion (w4).
Ex-Lawspeaker of Gregminster (w5).
Ex-Lawspeaker of Laketown (w6).
Squatter and Rebuilder of Templus Pacis (w6).
Hermit thereafter.
Lawspeaker of Tachbrookshire (Hafen 2)

oh. oh boy.

W3. my neigbour kept stealing from me in my first week or so of playing. i got my wall up and grinded combat stats (with no clue of the system) then summoned him and killed him....i later found out it was my brother...

W4. we had just moved into a corner of the world and once the initial walls had been built everyone had been going around looking for caves and quality spots and such. on the other side of our mountain i found a village.. and in it i found a russian friend i had met on the other side of the world weeks beforehand... so i talked to there LS about trade and all seemed well. i thought i had gotten us some good allies...i go camping. 3 days later i log on. 3 or so mains had died. 40 or so alts had died. im not sure how may of the raiders had died. but they had used a cave into our town... (no wall. ikr)

we track the scents and it just so happens to be my lovely russian friends next door. who we would have traded with...

W5. there are to many bad neibour stories of mine this world. so tl;dr. PEOPLE ARE MEAN   but fun was had. that is all

Funny thing: I've had nothing but good fortune where I've been. I've met at least two good people in my area. One of them gave me a necromancer's cloak and some other things that he acquired from a thief he'd killed. Another lives in a village not far away.

I've seen a couple of newbies, and helped them if they wanted it, but I have yet to meet a single griefer.

I also live far and away from any main waterways, because the river I am located on doesn't really go anywhere.

And yet, somehow, my quadrant of the world is not considered very good, as some gangs of Russian raiders are nearby (I live to the west of the village "Wallstreet").

Wow. Can I join you guys? My stats aren't great yet, but I can do easy jobs like fishing or logging. And yeah, the people in my old village were very immature for their age, I was surprised. Three of them were parents, yet they spent all their time playing this game instead of raising their kids. The 40 year old couple in particular had something like 10 kids that they ignored or tried to recruit to play this game with them. The other parent (20 years old) is going to jail for not paying child support.

Same. So far I haven't met any griefers, I've just met idiots and jerks.

I have a neighbor story.
I got my boyfriend to play, he got all into it and found us a nice spot, we started to build stuff, he was taking care of our camp and I was out hunting (slinging stuff from a boat heh)
One day I was going out when I saw someone by our place, we didnt have a palisade up yet but had a claim. I started to talk to the guy, he was polish and since I know the language we talked, he was super nice, found an iron node close to our place and started a mine hole for us. Kinnd me and all. Well days passed and I got killed by 3 guys while hunting (afking in a boat). I talked to my polish friend, all heart broken, told him I will probably quit the game etc.
Didnt log on for 2-3 days, when I did log on I found an extra gate on our newly built palisade, I was locked in. Again I talked to my polish friend, crying my heart out. He said: give me your HS and I will spawn an alt in your place and look at your pali, there might be a flaw. So I said ok, sure enough he found it, showed me how the person got in and stole my stuff then locked me in. He suggested I move, because his place got raided and he moved far far away. I showed him where I tracked the scents (new village next to us). He said you wait here and I go talk. He came back and said guy is american and lives with his russian friend.
So I said ok, I will move.
On my way to new home I met vigilance, who was nice enough and didnt kill me. He then moved up where I used to live. I showed him where the people that griefed me lived, he said he talked to them before, some guy called LubiePlacki .. well that was my polish friend.
The same person that showed me how he got in and stole my stuff and suggested I move.
He died and his village now belongs to Vigi.

 I've heard worse, but still. It shocks me that people could be so irresponsible.

Then again, a fair portion of the young adult population is immature and irresponsible. (Myself included.)

But I hope that I never sink so low as to neglect my children (if I ever find a wife) or my mother.
I hope they stop sinking, too.

God help us all! :(

Ah, well. Nice to know not everyone's a selfish, heartless bastard in the world. :)

Not really a horror story but I was a member of World's End. It tried to have an economy within the village based on coins which ultimately made it fail. We also lived close to the Goons who at the time had Rage as a villager so we were constantly in fear of being raided and killed. All in all it was a good time and I met lots of cool people but also some real fags that if I had the chance to do it over again, I would have killed. *cough* Nanothnir *cough*

I've been in plenty of terrible villages, i'd say the
best villages are the ones with a few close friends,
not many past that if any at all..

running my own village was fun for the week i did,
though i soon realized that world would be bloodbath
with little progress, seeing as how the devs didn't get
to implement too much and i had already tested what
they had added. That and my villagers were dying
from lag and water or other stupid things, lag and
animals etc. I may have been ahead with my 150 UA
before most were even at 90 but my villagers were
all dying left and right, and there was no future in sight
for Narnia, or the world

I'm loving my current village :)

However, the previous one, the first one I ever joined, fell apart in quite a bizarre way (which I've said before, but maybe some people will enjoy it). The farmer was married to the miner irl, with kids and everything. Unfortunately, she grew *very* close to the Lawspeaker, and they started having some weird online affair. The miner decided that the best way to deal with this was not to talk to his wife irl, but to kill the Lawspeaker - I don't know if he ever managed it, but I left as fast as I could, too weird for me...
