Impractical solution to wall jumping

Postby Morsigil » Fri Jul 22, 2011 12:14 am

So the way the wall jumping bug works is by porting to a charter stone with no where to place your character, and so it takes you over the wall, right? Would it be possible to build a brick wall, with a palisade that has single width gaps, then another brick wall, creating pockets that the jumpers will be forced into into but cannot move around in or build more wood piles? They'll have to hearth to get out, or beat down the brick or palisade walls with their hands/tools. If that's too feasible (busting down the palisade fillers with picks) then I guess the only solution would be a 3 layer brick wall with single tile pockets every couple of spaces in the middle layer.

Or do I have this wrong?

After they teleport, they fill the "middle layer" with signposts and try it again.

Or, if the pockets are only one tile, they let alts die there and fill the pockets with skeletons.

The alt death one would work. Dang.

There is no way you can prevent CS jumping which is what makes it so much worse than other jumps. It is also fairly easy to do. Protect your towns by bannering quite a big radius around it. That will make it harder or almost impossible to get jumped since at some point attackers would have to place down tenthousands of signs. In theory they can jump you from the other end of the map though...

You can make yourself immune to CS jump if you have your entire village on an island and banner the ENTIRE island with no gaps in the village claim.

I'm glad protecting yourself from a bug isn't at all impractical and time consuming.

So it's confirmed that CS can't jump over rivers?
And why is this? Do people spawn in the shallows? If this is the case they could block the shallows with boats.
If it's not because of the shallows why is it? o_o What happens?

I want to be immune to this bug :(

You cannot be, CS can even land you in middle of DEEP river, so it is possible to land over it if river is filled with boats somehow, with some luck i guess.

You can indeed use boats.
