Some multimedia questions.

  1. What software would you recommend in making mp3 files if you do not have a musical keyboard connected to your computer?
  2. When I create video recording and the sound comes out garbled when recorded from the speakers, would that means I need a microphone for optimal audio recording?

What kind of mp3s are you trying to make? If you just want to play around for free this site had some fun stuff: http://www.aviary.com/

If your thinking of making 8-bit music, you could prolly use pxtone. I found it to be hard to use though, but its the only program I could think of off the top of my head.

1. Depending on what you're doing, there's some open source or fairly reasonably priced sequencing software out there.

2. Maybe you should better state what you're trying to do. If you have something going out to a speaker, you can just as easily reroute it (or split it) and run part of it as an input into a PC either via USB, MIDI, or other audio input interface that your sound card supports for the most optimal sound capture.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Mostly remixing songs that I enjoy already. Perhaps sharing some of them for general feedback as well as distributing if they are of unusually high quality.

Garage Band?? I think that makes MP3s

You can do notes on your keyboard. I believe you can do up to an octave and a half with just QWERTY keyboard.
