Am I doing something wrong?

So I just found Haven and Hearth and began my noobish ascendance into the world. I know nothing of this world, but I began to walk around and eventually built a fire and toasted some rats. A few hours later, after many a rat had entered my sprite's belly, I realized that I had not come across a single other player. Also, I noticed that I had not come across an ounce of water, despite walking for what seemed like miles. When will I find more players? How will I continue to advance my skills? And at one point will I find some water?

players tend to hide, Some groups just raid and kill everything on sight

at first your lp come from discoveryes( use search) later on it will be based on curios(Use Search )

Keep on walking, where there is water there are people. Also depends where you are in the world. Some places are more populated then others.
