First Pandemonium Freefighting Tournament

For the first, but hopefully not the last time we held a big sparring tournament in Pandemonium yesterday. The rules were simple. Naked fighting, weapons only, the inventory was allowed to hold frogs, rats, bunnies, branches for some dirty tricks. The winner would advance one round while the looser could cure his mistreated body at our banquet.

First prize was a pair of thanes of very nice quality which will stay a secret here for now. Second prize was a nice silk table cloth and a silk table napkin.

Several big names from Pande and Ainran had made their way to this monumental fighting event and so it wasn't very surprising to see some of those names in the first fights already.



Here you can see the arena built around our idol. Several times surprised people logged into the game, warped to idol just to find themselves in the middle of an epic fight. To the right you can see our little feasting area while in the fighting arena itself Valten is about to wipe the floor with his first round opponent (no offense Phil, you fought great).



Mr. ??? here is no other than the (in)famous NaoWhut, clearly one of the favourites to win the tournament and claim the thanes for himself. My money definitely was on him, but oh what a surprise! His opponent on this screen was DDDssDD999, who apparently is capable of more than successful forum trolling. After a few blows were dealt out from both sides one could hear a cracking loud sound followed by a "Fucking lag" from NaoWhut as his opponent struck him down. First round KO, who would have thought...



Here you can see Darkis opponent already running away in fear of his giant B12, but this all didn't help much. A few minutes later the enormous blade did its job and Darki advanced to round 2.

Apparently here my good sense to take more screenies stopped working or it was Enders snapshot feature that did. So I won't bore you too much with a round by round analysis and just say so much that both Salem and DDDssDD999 won their following fights. Sometimes easily, sometimes very close. In the finals those two titans had to face eachother then, but it seemed his victory over Nao had given DDD some kind of super power and he even managed to take out Valten"Usain Bolt" 21.

Gratz to the both of you again, those were great fights and alot of fun was had. Especially afterwards in some free for all and 4vs4 fights our warriors had while the rest was enjoying a nice feast.



When the server is back I guess I gotta go clean the idol area. The morning after...

Hope to repeat this soon, maybe together with some of our friends and allies.

P.S.: Didn't want to give too many technical details on the fighters strategies, if they feel like sharing some of those they can do that themselves.

I'll break the ice, though.

Congrats on hosting an Event that sounds like alot of fun, and for some reason has never happened before (at least to my knowledge, at this scale)
I wish I were there.
Very much in the spirit of the game!

How about incorporating a Haven Triathlon** for the non-fighters in the next Hearthiade (let it not be 4 RL years between the games)?

For the majority of players, myself included, the choice is between flex+punch and panick+drown in nearest river.
Flex/punch is clearly the winner.

nah, depends on how outclassed you are really, if around the same and with a nice sword my way works best (of all ways ive been shown) but there are better...though from my experiance flex punch is just silly and has to many flaws that can be exploited
