Today I met a player who was very much shocked when I contradicted his assumption that we are 'full'.
Just to let everybody know, guys, Brodgar is open now, it will be open next month, and it will be open next year. If you are interested in becoming a resident, please don't hesitate, come on over and start chatting with one of us.
Basically, we are not full, nor will we ever be full because we are not a community established for the benefit of a limited number of higher level players. This has its negative aspects. You may find it somewhat chaotic. There are also not wide swaths of designated community farm land, nor storehouses filled with whatever people need. On the plus side, there is always somebody around to talk to, and maybe work together with.
What we are aiming for is a large number of players who can support a more complex kind of specialised economy. So, rather than everybody sharing everything, which is good for smaller scale towns which can have better security, we encourage people to do their own thing. Just because you live here doesn't mean that you are expected to work for the common good. Rather, we like to see people make their own small farms outside the walls, or workshops or houses inside.
We are currently in the process of voting in a number of oaths that will serve as our 'constitution'. These will form the foundation on which a corpus of law will be constructed, with the vetting of the citizens as a whole.
On a final note, Brodgar is a democracy. All offices of power are open during general elections. At the moment there are the positions of Lawspeaker, currently held by myself, and Chieftan, by theTrav. However, as we expand, numerous other positions will become available. If spending all your time on a lonely farm is getting you down, perhaps Brodgar is for you.
