Bad timing = dead. Settlement up for grabs

Postby Nic » Mon Sep 21, 2009 3:20 pm

While I was crossing a river my brother decided to reset the modem. Pretty bad timing I'd say. I was full change so it's over for me, I guess it was fun while it lasted. I had a nice settlement going up near a desert called Dryleaf Ridge. I'll post a map with it's location circled below, it's up for grabs for whoever can knock down the gates. I'd prefer if you'd settle in it instead of just looting it and running off, but I can't really ask that of anyone. As far as I know the claims are still there so you might need to wait for claim destruction, or ask one of the devs to remove the claims. I give permission for anyone to ask that though I don't know if they'll actually remove them for you.

Dryleaf Ridge is split into 3 sections:

The fort
The charity center
The vineyard/winery

Fort contains a cabin with cellar, a cauldron, stoves and a kiln, plenty of straw baskets, and a farm plot with Q30ish wheat, Q34ish onions, Q25ish hops and Q35ish carrots. A flax patch is in the front of the fort and the roads are almost completely flowered with poppies. A claim covers the entire fort. Key to the gate is lost.

The charity center is unclaimed and unlocked for all to use, it's a small palisaded site with wicker baskets and some items inside. It was meant for people to use in their travels, having such things as wool, dreams, leather, seeds of all kinds, etc. The idea was for somebody to take what they needed and add their own items to the charity for the next person. Though as you may have guessed it didn't work out. It was emptied constantly but I kept it restocked.

The vineyard/winery is a large palisaded area to the north of the fort. It has a huge plowed field made for grapes and it was almost completely seeded. I paved a nice path and put 5-6 bee hives in there. The cabin is full of buckets for juice storage and there's a container in there with flasks of high quality water. Key is lost to that as well, a claim owned by my alt covers the cabin. I'd remove it but I can't get inside.

To whoever loots everything/decides to settle down in Dryleaf Ridge: Enjoy. It took a lot of work to get the place built up and it's very quaint. Friendly neighbors, large grasslands and a large heath nearby, good hunting, etc.

That sucks. I've been through there a number of times. It was a pretty nice place.

Probably going to be gutted now.

Arrgh this place is really nice, I'll try to knock down the wall I guess. Are you sure you're done Nic? We can rebuild.

It's sad that you're leaving, you seem like quite a nice guy, unlike some around here.

I'm tired of starting over again and again because of lame deaths. Sorry Gapingangus, I'm done.

I opened the gates for you (but took nothing).

I've never actually died, which is surprising, since I've played from the start. :S

I came by there once before. Looked like a nice place, but I'm too busy raping the eastern supergrid for my own purposes.
