Stop! Grinding time!

Postby Marcinov » Sat Sep 26, 2009 6:17 pm

It may be that I expect just a little too harvestmoon'y experience out of it, but with every update the game becomes more and more of a pain in the ass. Ok, now we have trees, that's good, but the requirements for mines, travel (rivers + sneaking past animals (now both ways sometimes)) are just too hardcore for me. I know that without goals game becomes boring, but why those highest practical goals are ESSENTIAL for the play? I guess I am whining, but the damn metal keeps me from doing anything more than repeating the tasks I've done tens of times just to rise the outpost and I don't have anything useful for trade either because I don't consider grinding 'fun'.

Tending your farm is grindy? What's the fun part of the game then, the one you would access with metal?

Anyway, you can easily buy metal with farm products. Just keep checking the trade forum and the IRC.

I've been playing for more than a month now, and I only had to grind on three occasions: Twice for half an hour when I made a character, and once when I decided I need 60 melee and went bear hunting.

I don't think I ever grinded, other than firemaking at the very start. If new characters got some skills like fishing, lumberjacking or plant lore, there'd be no need for grind at all.

Meh, I grinded a bit on my old character. But on my current one, no grinding whatsoever. Turns out starting a settlement gets you some pretty good LP.

The only time I've ever grinded was when I was making like 8 kilns, but then that was only because I didn't know about fences.

Old school to the max!

What do you have to trade? TCoB is paying copper coin for linen cloth, tea, most foods, Wood blocks/logs and bricks... Most of those are achievable by new players fairly rapidly without need for access to metal...

Damn you, we used the CoB acronym first! Get yourself a new acronym, or prepare for war :P

I specifically changed our acronym to TCoB so you guys could keep COB. Can't we all just get along?
