When to say when?

Postby joojoo1975 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 7:21 am

Ok been in here for a bit, and all i ever see anymore is "village Razed" or "I be dead"

Is it just me or has murdering in this game just went through the roof?

I believe it's because of the new LP system.

what do you all think?

This. Most of the other experienced players, who provided a bit of stability, have retired. Granted, there will always be lots of villages getting raided. It is just that there used to be other stuff going on as well.

I think that's a groundless statement tacked on without an correlation what so ever.

We're just seeing the effects of a lack of dev support. Without even basic abuses being fixed, bigger factions that generally keep raiders in check have mostly dissipated.

Now you're seeing a world in which world powers are not in control of the world.

And ya...theres nothing actually interesting happening so all of congress is pretty much just bitching threads. Tracking is normally futile so it's all rather pointless =p

your right, i should had explained my point of view.

Lets begin.

First off lets view some general "truths" i feel about the new LP system(hopefully i don't fall off into ranting here)

#1 The new LP system heavily favors established Villages VS. brand new villages/people
Though this is true in all the worlds in H&H the divide was never the Gulf that it is now. First off with the advent of Quality(though Q always had an effect in LP gains) in crafted curios said Established village will raise up by leaps and bounds. but where the previous system had a sort of ceiling, the "ceiling" has become almost non existant. before your best LP gain(i believe) was killing a lvl 10 bear(most in game at one time if i am correct) now depending on your playstyle you can do a lot of things and actually accrue a good sized bit of LP, but never like it is now.

#2 The new LP system Heavily Favors "alts" leave your LP-crafter main at home and take out your soldier. which basically takes away the Sting of Death
Before you actually had to use your "alt" to gain the LP. now we just feed em tasty found/crafted Curios. you can work on your main making more of these curios, and at the same time your other char can be logged off till his timelimit pops, then just log him back in and nom nom nom.

with these 2 factors in place. you now see what we have here at present.

killers arn't that bothered if they die. it's not like they spent months on thier dead char. and even if they did, unless thier Curio maker died then gettin back to thier former self is no where as long as it used to be.

established villages will have the tools needed to keep a steady stream of needed equipment and curios flowing(we're talkin brick walls, metal, Q up and above the 100's) which totally effects my first conclusion

but mayby your explanation is the better answer

Things have been quiet between Pandemoniun and the NNN, and we just kept going.... The war for a month or so (even more perhaps) was a good focus of our activities, but where others burned out or turned there attention somewhere else we were still left with a handfull of full tradition warriors, and to this day.. run around killing people on a daily basis. AD has took the brunt of our blows, you just don't hear about it as much, but even AD is seeming to run out of cornerpost signs to break, unsealed cornerposts to build off of, ect.
You may have foiled the plans of BAD-EVIL this time, but there is no rest for the wicked.

Your conclusions about established villages would usually lead to a more secure world and not an anachic place. There are other factors in place that have been mentioned by the other posters as to why the Hearthlands are in their current condition.

I almost thought you wanted an actual thread for a moment there, my mistake. We're not having this discussion for the umpteenth time. I don't think anyone was ever under the illusion that hermits and new players had any advantage over established villages or that if you were serious about combat that you didn't have a combat alt separate your crafting alt anyway.

Ainran's reign of terror actually tipped the scale when I started raiding with them. IMHO :P (I joke)

The irony is that when I bash/raid by myself I kill more people/noobs than I do now with Ainran but I personally don't yell shit at noobs about Go Painhertz!!! and Chernobyl pwnd you!!! so people don't spam the forum up about it. :P
