Why did the amount of players double?

There used to be ~500-600 people playing per day during W5, why is there now ~1000? I don't remember it being like this at the start of world 5.

they're mostly not "players" they're alts, or so i've read in most threads questioning it

i dunno, i think it's people using alt's to do things like look for clay nodes, well, that was in the first day or so, i guess it could be more players returning to the game after the wipe

It's people afking alts for beliefs, you obviously wouldn't see this in late game since it's mostly done in early game. Also people spawning tons of alts just to search for resources.

If I recall right, the peak was a bit over 2k online at once.

its not only alts, its also people who had quit for a while and came back for a new beginning
