Stone axes should really have an abysmal THAC0 modifier.

Stone axes are slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. Like, almost worthless slow. Boar gets +10 initiative and full combat advantage slow.

When you do enough damage, speed isn't that much of an issue.

Also if you exploit pathing hard enough animals don't get to strike at you many times

another point might be that we desperately need a DnD style implementation for combat.

I hope you mean first edition or AD&D. Best combat systems EVER.

Lol, I doubt the 1st ed combat would make a good translation to a computer game... It's not really made for hard and fast rules like computers need. While I think 4th ed was a vastly inferior game I think the mechanics that run it would translate to computers a lot easier.

I hardly ever use cleave as the prey either runs away or dies before being able to use it. To me a sword (any sword) seems to be a much better weapon for hunting as it does more damage as you hit more often and actually keep the battle balanced.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
