First days strategies

So, what are your strategies for the first days of a new world?
This was the second world that I played and the first day we (we're a group of 3 IRL friends) were like "Uh, let's find a cave, preferably close to, but not too close to water, because, uh, mining is good".
I kept a little diary chronicling the first days of World 6.

Day 1

"Russian caviar on my plate, things are going well"

Day 2

"Cornerpost placed, some Aurochsen slain, too much leather coming in, some miscellaneous plants planted in random places.
Still going swell."

Day 3

"Killed mouflon, 2 bears, 1 boar, found two peculiar flotsams, finished the palisade. A villager got killed by a guy from NNN who had a sword. Griefers are fearless as they face no consequences."

Day 4

"Killed a fox and a boar, our second house is finished. We've built 2 cornerposts to protect our cave entrance, it will have set tomorrow. Just got a bear cape and a bear tooth talisman, it will help me get enough strength for mining, I haven't had time to play that much today because of roleplaying."

Day 5

"Started mining"

Day 6

"Killed a bunch of animals, among them 7 deer. Kept mining, prospected some, I now know where there's iron."

Anyway, share your strategies for the first day. Next world I'll probably look for high quality acre clay spots since they're easy to protect, and if I need to mind I could just build a minehole.

Next time don't rush to put so much LP in exploration. With ~40 you should be able to see the things you need early on, and once you get a decent farm set up it's trivial to pump your perception to 100+.

Spam alts and explore until I find decent clay then settle there and build UA while someone else gets Exploration up enough to get seeds. I'm not sure if this is a good idea but I usually go for UA + Boat Building Day 1, Day 2 Yeomanry. This has sort of backfired on me in the past and it might be a better idea to rush Yeo asap. All the bear and deer hides in the world don't mean a thing if someone else claims your spots.

If possible with a cave, block the entrances with a HF and do my drying in there until I have yeo to prevent theft. If that's not an option then alt spam to place HFs to block everything off.

Yes. It's the best way to cover as much ground by yourself as possible.

Get 5 UA. -> raid anthills -> chain ant soldiers for the next 36 hours of my life.

started by randomy spawning and different places for a few hours
settled on the ebst we found since it seemed to waste time and nothing awesome was found
explored area we decided on
found a nice cave, built hf at entrance to secure
killed tons of rabbits
fished a lot
and raided a ton of ant hills
started leather first day
second day with sling at hand and an awesome 11 mm i killed first bear, then later that night we went out as a group to kill our first deer= all for discovery for village idol
we set a hearthfire wall around our cave and property until day 2 when a few of us had yeomanry
set out exploring area for resources and deciding on best area to start building- found area, set cornerpost and built it, and village idol
that was pretty much first week. everyone had different jobs so everyone built up the skills they required to do their job first, and getting yeomanry so we can secure resources we found
