So what beer that is exported into other countries (North America particularly) would you recommend? Sorry for offtop, but had a hard discussion with my friends about that.
burgingham wrote:Beer. I mean I am German, what else did you expect? The more "bitter" (I am not entirely sure what the correct english term here is) the better.
I prefer a bitter Pilsener. A brew originally from the Czech town of Pilsen and brewed after the German Reinheitsgebot. Jever would be one of my favourite choices. It is a north German beer which are usually more bitter.
In southern Germany especially Bavaria they drink the beer we all know from HnH called Weißbier. It is not my favourite beer and actually doesn't fit the slavic and germanic setting of HnH all too well. A Schwarzbier would be more appropriate or the already mentioned Pilsener.
The only non German beers that I really enjoy are from the actual motherland Czechia. Belgian beers are ok too I guess. Those ales and brews the americans have however. Well, let's not talk about it. The most horrible beer I ever had was from Japan I believe.
I enjoy a dry red wine too every once in a while and if it comes to the harder stuff then maybe a whiskey. That said I cut down on my drinking and reduced it almost to 0 over the last 1-2 years.

I got lectured by Sabinati that said microbrews are actually very good, but well I have no way to really verify that. If Jever exports their beer I can definitely recommend that, or maybe a beer from my region called Rolinck, but I doubt they are big enough to export it.
