CD on cornerpost

Postby Hourai_Chimes » Sun Dec 04, 2011 7:43 pm

Not sure if I should put this here or CnI but I want to discuss about CD on cornerpost and why it is made for. I don't think they are working too well as people are just long walling or strongbox-walling and telling cornerpost CD to go fuck themselves.

Well it was created because of the fact that before a cooldown was in place anyone could come along to a village, build a cornerpost and create a bubble protecting a ram all within an hour, maybe less.

The cooldown is so this doesn't happen so often, but you are right that someone can just as easily long wall you. However you have 12 hours to just check around your village once, it really isn't that difficult.

12 hours is a lot shorter than 24 though and estimated time of attack can be reduced to 8 but that is more of another subject. I'm just questioning if it is too easily circumvented or it is enough to stop a "cornerpost war"

IMO CP's should have a soak of 5 or so while they're "settling", maybe this could be abused for griefing but anyways griefers can just seal them right now so it shouldn't be a bad idea. Not sure about strongboxes, though.

EDIT: Disregard the sealing thing, silly me.

i always thought it was utterly ridiculous that cornerposts during cooldown have the same soak value as completed ones.

also does anyone actually use strongboxes for their intended purpose?

You must be new here. Anything that gets "fixed" is usually broken further. And since loftar has to institute an entirely new interaction system and re-write a large chunk of the game's code, I think it will be longer than the next world for those kind of changes.

+1

Remove idol CD too. It does more harm than good.

Strongboxes would make some good use with some of Loftar's intended changes to the game. Although I think that strongboxes should have passwords to unlock them instead of keys. Also, there should be different tiers of strongboxes (some having a lot more storage space).

CD on walls was always bullshit anyway. You can still bubble a ram in. You can still exploit the fuck out of them. It's a lot better for the general populace if CD was removed.
