Hello Everyone!

General discussion and socializing.

Hello Everyone!

Postby Weltraum » Mon Jan 02, 2012 4:01 am

I'm Weltraum, a new gamer from Italy (the ugly country where all the political class deserve jail...) and my character is named Trauma.
Like i've said, i'm a newbie, and i think to need some advice. I've already read all the help topics and the wiki pages, I've learned some skill to craft and build various thing, but i don't find the resources to craft or build everything i want, and so i don't know how to add some LP to increase my stats. For example the "clay": i've tryied for 1 hour in the water and i've found only 1 piece of clay. It's my mistake? I don't search in the right place? (and this is only 1 example... strings: where the hell i found them?)
I've tried to walk long distance, but it seems to me that the landscape is not changing, or not so much... (THIS IS NOT A CRITICISM!!!)
It's a better idea to improve other skills or improve the stats at the beginning?
How to hunt quickly? I'm starving!
Where i can find Plant Fibres?

Other question: i start to feel lonely!
I don't know where i am, and i will really like to meet with other people, to socialize and improve faster my character.
There's anybody can help me?

The last thing (but not least): ci sono italiani in questo splendido gioco? Magari una piccola community già avviata?
(Translated:) There's Italian in this beautifull game? Maybe a little community already well placed?

I would like to thanks the creator of this incredible and amazing game, because are 3 days that i go around, searching, exlporing and finding a lot of different stuff! :o

If anyone want a newbie in his village or guild or everything is present in this game, i will thank you a lot!!! :D

I would spend a lot of time trying to find a good spot to begin a camp, preferable nearby both a Conifer Forest and a Broadleaf forest (you can read more on those on the wiki). These provide good resources to begin with such as apples, wood, boughs, ants, rabbits, etc. Eventually when you can build a boat it is much easier to find resources and other players.

The Dwarves & Thieves Forum is a good place to look for a village, some are exclusively for beginner players, you may even find an Italian-speaking village, but if you're comfortable with English you have more options.

Ok, i've found at 10 min of walking with apple tree and stuff like you said, only one question: how i can catch a rabbit??? They're incredibly fast!!!

And one other question that you don't have answered: the freakin clay? I need to improve my stats or is only based on luck the chance to find it?

Left click on a rabbit to walk to it, when up close to it click on the run speed. Then, quickly right click it a couple times -- you may get it, it may run off, but you will get better at it the more you attempt it.

Go to shallow water and in the action menu you can use dig to dig for clay.

You can read more on clay at the following link:

The wiki is probably the best resource for learning the game beyond the basic guides in the "How Do I?" forum.

At early game, it is important to get your hunting and exploration skill up quickly, so you progress fast. Try getting Exploration to 10, then Marksmenship to 10, crafting a sling, and going out to hunt and forage. Continue progressing these skills for quite some time.

Before you hunt, there may be a small time of which it is hard to get food. Prior to your hunting, try eating nuts, and apples, and try looking through claimless (Don't steal, my friend!) for meats. Also, try hunting mediocre bunnies and cooking their meat!

Where i can find Plant Fibres?

Harvest flax or hemp!

Try looking in Dwarves and Thieves for recruitment threads.

I've met a few, but that was a while back; no contact with them, sorry.

Yeah, it's a great game, full of potential; but the devs are busy elsewhere. ;)

10? These means 2000 LP... i barely succeed to make 50 LP in 1 day... until i find out some bones, some clay and some string, i don't go anywhere with my stats...

When you discover new items such as soil, branches, bough, bark etc. You get 50 base lp each.
Then you're gonna need curiosities. The best curios for beginners are cone cow (craft with 4 branches and 1 cone), a ladybug flying everywhere, a dragonfly (found in swamps. Stand where you think hes gonna cross you as they are fast and impossible to follow. Then when he approaches you, you just keep right-clicking until you catch one) and ants.
Ants are the best, you cant kill them yet so heres what you do: find an ant hill near water, click to raid, as soon as they attack you, run to the water (try to avoid getting hit so dont raid when they stand next to you.). Get as far in the shallow water as possible and wait for the ants.
When the ants touch the water, they will suddenly just walk around as if theyre doing nothing. So as soon as they hit the water, you can safely walk towards the ant hill and click raid again. You will now find either an ant soldier, queen, empress (those are very good curios, even for pro's) or some other ants (food). Dont eat the curios!

As for hemp and flax you'll need to find wild windsown weeds (starting from 6exploration) and dry them in a drying rack. They will become a random seed and with some luck you find hemp or flax seeds :)
when you have seeds you can plant them by holding them and right-click on plowed ground (you need the farming skill)

succes and welcome to hnh :)
Hope you have a great day
