My Poem (My people, The Afghans)

Postby Saif_Mahlik » Sat Jan 28, 2012 7:51 pm

Well I am a bit of a poet myself :) And here is one of my favourite poems I have written for all the hearthling community. (The pictures of fellow Pashtuns bring the poem to life)

My people, The Afghans

Struggle we struggle, with struggle we survive
Many have died, but thankfully more are alive
Knives, guns and lies with the help off there spies
They hope to bring our demise
For we are short in numbers and short in size
Everyday when we wake up, all we hear are cries

Image

Struggle is a way of life, we struggle to survive
They arrive in fleets, they butcher us as they see us as piece off meats
But little do they realise this is a land that has never been invaded
For we have always faught back those who have raided
We are the lions of Asia, many off us come from Persia
Struggle is a way off living, thankfully due to that many off us are breathing.
But suffering....

Image

"Spare us a shilling" we say, for forever we must pray to see tomorrow and today
Never the less our children smile in the tears off War and play
For grateful they are even as there dead lay
As we say "At least I have enough to live for today"...

I wrote this a while ago, considering I am Pashtun myself it was important to highlight the struggle of my people.

The Pashtuns are people of European-Persian descent and are ancestors of Israelis (Though don't mistake us for Jews, almost every Pashtun is Muslim), they originate and live in South Afghanistan and the border to Pakistan. Most Pashtuns are very poor people but then again decades of War with the Soviets and now Americans and the Europeans would do that to any country and people thus me writing this poem.

the poem's nice, i'm not partial to poetry so i have no real criticisms or praise to that, however, i don't feel pictures should be embedded in poetry, they're supposed to have flow if i'm not wrong
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...

Get the Taliban in line and don't offer shelter for Al Quaida and you people will/would be fine. As for the Soviets? They were just dickheads. lol

The Taliban offered Bin Ladin to the USA if they provided evidence to say Bin Ladin committed the crime just like any country would do as no sovereign country in this World sends over criminals without any evidence to another country. The soviets have the same objective as the Americans, steal the 2-3trillion dollars worth of minerals in Afghanistan which is currently happening with the USA and Canada looking to "explore" (Steal) the resources.

Anyways this is about the poem and not politics, do not derail this topic

@ Hazzor

True pictures maybe not be entirely necessary just thought it would help bring the poem more to life but next time I'll keep the pictures out of my poems and let people use there imaginations :)

Ahem: he admitted to masterminding 9/11. Generally admission of guilt is...umm....evidence of guilt. Anyway, nice poem.

When did he admit to 9/11? He denied it when he gave a first hand interview to the Newspaper "Ummat" denying taking part or any involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

Not only that he gave an interview to AlJAzeera, the Taliban leader did not allow Bin Laden to carry out such attacks on foreign soil for aslong as he lives in Afghanistan. That was one of the conditions of his stay.

Now back on topic.

Sometimes we forget how easily our own nation could be like that in the blink of an eye. I have much empathy for anyone who suffers, be it human or animal. Sometimes I wonder what it would take, how low we must get to the bottom before we realize this can't be the way things are and make a change.
