Just started the game last night & absolutely loving it. Unfortunately, just after making my boat and making off to look for some fir trees, I hop off it and am suddenly oneshot by a guy in some sort of bear outfit. Now, this I know not to be strange, and is even commonplace. What I'm puzzled about is the fact that when he'd killed me, he searched me, and gave me two mushrooms. One of them was called a Lady's Mantle, or something similar. Is this a normal practice...?

It's a little odd, but you really never know what people are gonna do when you meet them.

Well, I haven't GOT them persay. Not gone back to my corpse decided to start randomly again rather than inherit a crappy ancestor with bad skills. But while i was laid knocked out he place them upon me, while I watched my character slowly die ¬.¬

I can only assume you had something nice on you and his inventory was full, So he put the mantles in your inventory so he could free some space up, Maybe...

are you sure you died and didnt just get knocked out?

Yes, positive. My first lot of HP went down, then the next lot. I assume that was overkill from the same attack, he only hit me the once.

Yes, but are you dead? Is it still possible to log in as that character? Or, when you go to the character creation room, is there a runestone with your first chracter's name on it?
