Ahhhh!!! Griefers!!! (aka: FTGIQ)

Postby Ogrim » Thu Feb 09, 2012 8:49 pm

So, after doing everything I can to survive in this hostile world I just got nailed by a random griefer.

Since joining this game, I've done everything I can to keep Griefers at bay. I leave no scents (never even purchased the trespassing skill), have a palisade wall up, have the whole area claimed, wear linen clothes and a farmer hat almost exclusively, and keep valuables out of sight. That's about 500k LP down the drain.

The jerk 2 shot me through the palisade wall before I could run inside my timber house.

I don't even want to log back in with my new character to see if the sucker came back and raided everything... I'll probably Rage Quit for a couple hours then come back on again tonight.

Guess I'll need to become a raider and master the combat system before I go back to homesteading as a hermit. B@stards.

Just bad luck. Happened to me a few times before. You'll get over it once you get bored 'cause you have nothing else to do except play H&H. It's okay.

Ogrim

Take a look at this post:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7116

there is a TON of tips to keep you out of harms way. Secondly. man get some leather armor ASAP. and after that keep on gettin beter and better as best you can. with armor you might have a chance to run into the house b4 u die(as running as i know decreases the accuracy) and if the guy is a palibasher, well your fucked no matter what. otherwise you may have to say in your house and eat/leech or bandage/eat till ur full health again.

Also, i would suggest posting in D&T and look for a village for your new char to try again.

I had the same thoughts as u when this happened to me twice in W5 - but here i am being a hermit farmer once again and still being nice to everyone - lol. I have however made sure i've got good armour and good ua/strength stats this time round, just incase i have to attempt to protect myself.

Armor: Had leather armor and pants equipped. Still got killed in 2 shots. Almost done building my first mine (found iron and copper nearby), but no access to metal until that's complete. So no bronze armor.

Still haven't logged back in to see if the @sshat was a palibasher or not. If he was then I've got nothing left to go back to.

As for joining a village, I've seen all kinds of drama within villages posted on this board. I'm not interested in any of that. Also, I'd be trading issues with Griefers for issues with whole groups of raiders who level settlements and leave nothing behind. I'm a live and let live kind of guy.

Now I'm going to learn how to kill people. So I can live in peace once again.

Indeed.

It would seem that my griefer was not a Palibasher, and for that I am thankful. Just an @sshat passing through. I'm about 4 wax away from getting my first mine hole dug, then we'll see what kind of iron ore I've camped on. Hopefully the rock is not too hard as I don't have a crazy amount of Strength.

Right after I make myself a pick-axe I'll be crafting some armor.

Surface mine holes take you straight to the second layer of the world. You might need quite a bit of strength to mine in it. I mean, I have nearly 100 strength (that's with a bear cape added) and I still can't mine in some parts of a cave (a cave being the first layer of the world under the surface.)
