Stories around the Hearthfire

Postby Swirly » Fri Mar 16, 2012 8:41 pm

So, since this is the sub-forum for socializing, I figured this would be the best place to say hello, stop lurking, and to ask a question that I've been thinking of after reading around a bit.

The world of Haven and Hearth is pretty grim, what with all the paranoia, fortified hermit compounds, and roving bands of super-hearthlings capable of punching bears to death and tearing down houses with their bare hands. Not to mention all the mass murders committed for shits and giggles. However, there must be SOME comedy to be found in this world, or at least stories that don't end with piles of pant-less corpses. I haven't been playing long enough to have any good stories of my own, but I'm sure some of you veteran hearthlings out there have a few tales to tell. So, what I am asking is that, if you have the time and inclination, why not regale us with your tales of glory, comedy, or whatever else.

Suck up to everyone like xGhoatseex does and you'll join a major faction, you won't lack an e-cock to suck in exchange for a pleasant H&H experience.

You don't have to be in a major faction to have a good time, (poorly disguised personal insult but w/e) although I would say that being in a village or group of people does make the game more fun in my opinion.

A funny story about something that happened very recently-

Mining on L5
Troll spawns and destroys the mine support
Doom rocks crash everywhere
Troll punchs for 80% of def bar
Feels like vietnam

Swarm, I'm not exactly sure what joining a village has to do with telling stories, unless you have a story about how you joined a village or something. I was just wondering if anyone has any cool stories they wanted to share. If you do, then great, if not then that is fine too.

World 4, boating around foraging when my town mate gets on and yells in village chat "Dude! There's a fucking troll in the town!" I'm like, "Wtf? Trolls are only underground?" "Dude, what does it look like?" He says "Like on of those Treasure Troll toys with the poofy hair!" (A Dryad) "Dude, Hide in your house, I'll be there in a minute." lol

At the start of this world, joining up with some /v/ guys I'd played with before. We all spawned around one guys hearth secret and set about setting up to make some boats and find a decent spot to settle, there was maybe 8-9 of us and we kinned each other etc. There was one guy that didn't accept a kin from me for some reason but I didn't think much of it since I was busy getting my early discoveries and stuff. After a while we finally had our first boat and unkinned guy picked it up, we were all in high spirits, cheering as he carried it down to the river to berth it. He got to the river, placed it into the water, and casually sailed away without saying anything. The rest of us just stood on the shore for like 5 minutes in stunned silence while we tried to figure out what happened.

Turned out a few of us had tried to kin him but he declined them all but like me, nobody really though anything of it. He was just some random guy that happened to spawn near us and just blended into the group without speaking to anyone, probably the funniest thing that's happened to me in any game.

earlier, i used to kill deers with fleeing them with sling then melee them.i as on hunting, i had a boar and a bear in my boat, i saw a deer and aggoed it. then i was slinging it 1 guy passed and went out of my sight. the deer fleed i got out of boat and went like 6-7 tiles deep in the forest, the guy rushed up, lifted the boat, and got the fuck out of there... i will kill him even if he happened to be my best in game friend in the future, and im still looking for him and never will. hope he goes to the deepest layers of hell.

gotta be one of the most common causes of my frustration in hnh, i usually lift my boat off the shore or if i know i'll be out for a while i get it out of view distance of the river
