what happened? did they get through your combat alts and finally hit your curio producers?

Mmm. My bet on the main reason here, ... probably server lag related. (seems to getting pretty consistence, as in persistence no matter what.)

(... well at least I hope its server lag related. Might help in getting dev's a little more interested in it. Users walking away from the game because of it never a good thing. But than again a lot of users already seems to be lingering on the side line (for whatever reasons.).)
